When I Say...
Posted On 02/15/2007 09:32:35 by Dianne
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

I got It
He got me
No doubt who got the best end of the deal, Roger

I've always loved this poem! It describes so well what it is to be a Christian, saved by grace and not because of anything we could ever do to deserve it. We struggle with the same issues everyone else does daily. The difference is we have a direct connection to the One who can lift us up when we stumble and put us back on the right path.

Thanks, Dianne, for posting this...and thank you, Sharon, for your testimony of what the Lord can do no matter how lost we are. No greater love...

AMEN ! I am a Christian too , I was into drugs and an alcoholic for years until my son took me to church 2 years ago and I got saved , changed my life forever. I now have been sober and clean for over 2years and I thank Jesus for that and the help of my family and friends . I no what you mean , I have lost alot of friends I use to run with because of my Faith , but I look at it as a time to make new friends . God Bless You Sharon
