The Sun Came Up This Morning

The Sun came up this Morning

This morning I awoke to our little Chihuahua barking up a storm at 4:45am. I don’t normally get up quite that early and I never set an alarm clock. I don’t like alarm clocks as they shock my system and make for an uncomfortable first few minutes of consciousness. The worst alarm clock I can imagine is a barking dog within one’s own home.

I came downstairs to correct this little dog’s behavior before she woke up my daughter and it was still dark outside. I was very aware of the fact that I was setting the tone of my day with the feeling of aggravation over the dog waking me up before daylight. At once I began looking for things to be grateful for to change my early morning tune.

I put on a pot of coffee and booted up the computer. I play a little game called Virtual Villagers on my computer. This game requires me to work with the virtual people in the game to put wood on their fire and gather their food. When I booted the game they only had fire left for one hour and no food. Wow, good thing I got up early or a lot of my villagers would have passed on into the next cyber life.

By this time my coffee was ready and I deeply breathed in the wonderful aroma of fresh black coffee. How grateful I am for this first cup of the day. It feels and tastes so wonderful to me.

As I began reading my morning email I smiled as I read a comment from a person about a Spirit Doll I had made. Seems he feels her energy over the net and is moved by her intentions. How delightful this is first thing in the morning.

I walked back into the kitchen to freshen my coffee and caught a glimpse of the sun coming up. Ah, how wonderful. I am so grateful for the sun rising this morning. I am alive and happy, healthy and surrounded by beauty.

A little while later the outside dog began to bark again. It was his greeting bark so I knew the dogs from down the road must be in the yard. I have known these dogs since they were puppies. One is a chow the other is a mix breed. My cats are not to crazy about them being in their yard. The dogs are well behaved and don’t threaten or chase the cats that sit and stare with angry eyes at the early morning invaders.

I opened the door and told them to get back home and had to smile as they jumped and played while running off toward their home. How blessed I am to see this delightful expression of life so early in the morning.

Now as I sit here writing this the little of 6 week old kittens have awakened and are rejoicing in another morning of play and adventure. How sweet they are as they jump and run talking to each other in meows.
The birds are awake and flying from tree to bush singing morning greetings to the world. What celebrations of life are all around me.

I am so grateful for getting to see the sun rise this early morning.

Blessings,
Donna

The wonders of life surround us every day if we choose to see them! Thanks for the reminder!
