Website and online store NAME help!!
Posted On 02/21/2008 16:24:47 by MeMeBev
This is a request for all my online friends and contacts…I have closed my Etsy store and my own website to regroup and decide on a better name for my work than Bevs Huggables as my creations are much more than stuffed toys now. I make handbags, totes, pillowcases, pillows, doll clothes, baby items, knitting, crocheting, photo cards and more. My personal opinion is that people don’t look at my site or store because they have no need or want of things pertaining to toys. Maybe, canceling was a bit drastic, but it is a motivator. I do have others that are not so much in the public eye so no sales but promotional non the less. I have two stores on Blujay one is for my handmade items http://bevshuggables.blujay.com the other is for my years at accumulating collectibles and non handmade items http://YourTurn.blujay.com a handful of sales there but they are FREE. At this time in our lives we are downsizing our things for our big move in about 6 years back to Maine where the majority of our family live. We are on a very fixed income and watch all that we spend. I can not justify paying for a site with my husbands hard earned money, especially with no sales in return. This is not a pity me…I am looking for NAME suggestions to help my tired Senior mind that has Senior moments. I know when I describe my site it sounds more personal than professional. Marketing and promoting, describing are my very weak points. At this time I too figure this a hobby not a business, but still want a suitable name. Look at my photo albums to get an idea what I create so you will have something to formulate your opinions on. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Blessings, Bev

Hi, Bev,

No name suggestions but I'm wondering if you might look into creating a website somewhere like Geocities.com where it's free. I had a site there I created and there's no cost unless you want extras (which they do offer). I had a Paypal button and all that as well. Just a thought as you say you're trying to be frugal these days.

Wishing you the best as you venture into your new site!

Bev, I've always been a sucker for catchy and clever business names. I've spent the last two hours crusing around the web and jotting down 'triggers' but have not copied or duplicated any names that I saw while online. The broad variety of items does make it tricky...but, I keep leaning to something that does not include your personal name at all..I think the majority of your items do involve sewing or stitching, so..I'm stuck on the word Sew...like Sew and So Much More, or Sew Blessed and More, Sew Crafty Am I or another direction with the Pocket Pal trigger is implying Pocket is a person's name (I know a lady named Pocket). ...so she might have a store named Pockets Handmade Creations or Pretty Pocket Designs, Pockets Potpourri of Crafts. Maybe these will give you a direction or maybe you'll think they are nutty, but I enjoyed the 'name game' that you challenged any and all of us with. Best Success to you...you do beautiful work...and your prices are VERY reasonable...Sew Affordable..couldn't resist!!!

I just viewed both your sites and, I believe, a good name would be "Bev's Creations and Collectables."

You have some lovely items!
