Bridal Camouflage?
Posted On 04/13/2008 17:39:48 by grouchyoldman

In 1799 the first white wedding veil was worn by Eleanor Custis, granddaughter of Martha Washington.  The idea for the veil came from her fiancé who had told her how beautiful her face looked through a lace window curtain.

Was that supposed to be a compliment?

“Gee, Honey, you look great … but you’d look even better if part of your face was obscured!”

Maybe it’s because I’m a guy, but that doesn’t sound all that romantic to me.  Maybe I just don’t get it.

I do, though, wish I’d have thought of something like that before I got married.

“You’d look a lot better with a bag over your head.”

Do you think she’d have gone for that?  Heck, maybe I could’ve gotten her to “recreate our wedding night” by getting her to wear the bag over her head on a regular basis!  Ahh … missed opportunities.

I kind of doubt it would have worked …
