Life’s Little (or not so little) Embarrassments
Posted On 04/24/2008 00:39:35 by katpurrson49

Ah, where to start . . . there are so many!  When I was a junior in high school, in Chem Lab, I leaned in a bit too close to the Bunsen Burner and singed my bangs!  Have you ever smelled burnt hair?  If not, it’s just as bad as a wet dog that has also rolled in a cow plop.  Of course, after that, all my lab partners (my best friend and 3 guys) would not let me near the Bunsen Burner.  Sometime after my incident another girl singed her hair . . . now that’s what I call carrying the copycat thing to the extreme!

Did I mention that I am also the world’s biggest klutz?  I can have an accident standing still.  No kidding.  In high school I was a member of the marching band.  The band had over 100 members, and I played the clarinet.  Our director liked to have us learn fancy routines for our appearances in the holiday parades.  I bet you can just picture where I’m going with this, can’t you?  Well, I always seemed to either be going in the opposite direction or getting run over by a tuba player.  High school memories are great, aren’t they?!  Now that I think about it, I bet this is why I could never learn to line dance . . . oh, my poor “Achy Breaky Heart.”

Through the years there have been numerous times that I have tripped, fallen, spilled . . . all at very inopportune times.  I recall one Christmas at least 20 years ago when I dumped some beverage in my poor unsuspecting cousin’s lap on Christmas Eve.  Ah, the “good old days.”

Flash forward to present day.  My embarrassing moments have wormed their way into my life here on Eons.  Just a few days ago, the other Mod for TLS, asked me to add an announcement for her.  Now never having added an announcement before I didn’t realize that when I hit “post” that MY ANNOUNCEMENT would REPLACE the MANAGER’S ANNOUNCEMENT!  Talk about an OMG moment!  I immediately PM’d the other Mod and the Manager.  Thanks goodness the Manager has a sense of humor about such things.  The other Mod and I are known affectionately (at least I hope) as Gracie1 and Gracie2 (our homage to Gracie Allen).  Not to be confused with Thing1 and Thing2 from Dr. Seuss’s “Cat in the Hat.”

Another somewhat embarrassing moment occurred at our last church business meeting.  As the clerk of the church I am responsible for taking the minutes of the business meetings.  As I started to read the minutes of the previous quarterly meeting, I inadvertently gave our pastor a promotion to . . .  president!  Of course, everyone laughed.  They are sort of used to such things happening.  I like to refer to myself as the comedic relief portion of the meeting!

These are but a few of my most embarrassing moments.  Stay tuned for more.
