It's raing again! I got woke up by Pepper Dog, who is afraid of the thunder and lightening. I guess we should feel fortunate to have this moisture in July. Usually, we get nothing in July and August; that's why everything burns up.

Papa planned on mowing this afternoon. I hope it dries up so he can. He doesn't like to mow wet grass. He's a lot more particular than most around here. I suppose if he used a catcher it wouldn't matter but our neighbor likes the grass left on the lawn for various reasons.

It just about the tail end of Papa's Gladiolis. We took a bunch up to his mother's, as well as, some roses that he grows. Mom was sooo proud that her son, the only one, is following in her father's steps with that "green thumb." She was always sad that she could never grow anything. We had a nice little visit with her.

We have another head of cabbage that is almost ready to cut so we told her we'd take it up to her. It seems most everyone's tomatoes are late this year and Mom is going "nuts." She loves those tomatoes. We'd taken a couple of flats to her last year and before the day was over she'd eaten half a flat! And that's by herself; like apples.

Papa was trying to put his red, white and blue windsock back up on the pole and attach it with a muffler clamp. Most of you guys know how heavy these things are and some ladies, too. He thought he'd give the bolt one more turn and broke the clamp, not the bolt. He found out he's stronger than he thought he was. Oh, and don't ask why he used a muffler clamp. There is a valid reason but too confusing to try to explain right now.

Papa asked Pepper Dog if she was buying the beer and candy bars tonight, she barked 2 times, meaning "yes" and we wondered whose pocket she was getting the money out of! It came out of Papa's.

He came back to the truck and took her into the liquor store so our friend could see her. He had the poor girl convinced Pepper was a Pit Bull! Of course, our friend fell in love with her. Everyone does. For those of you who don't know, Pepper is a Chihuahua.  She got her ride and visited and was very happy.

It sounds like the rain, thunder and lightening has stopped and my neck is starting to hurt so I'd better try to get some sleep.

Take care, all. Have a very good day!

Love, Junie and Papa, too

Thank you, Janet, for the advise; I'll check it out.

Yes, you may get more tomatoes this late  in the season. Actually, you'll have tomatoes when no one else does. I remember picking tomatoes into November! Hope you will, too.

Love, Junie

Funny! Guess there's no accounting for the intelligence of liquor store attendees. LOL Glad you're getting needed rain. Some people just came last week and cleared out a large area back of my house of stones that had been used under a now non-existant handicap ramp that was leading off the deck. So now I have a place to plant! Any chance the small tomato plant with one little tomato on it I found at the garden center this week will grow and produce more tomatoes if planted this late in the season? I'm hopin'....

Take care, Junie and Papa, and hope that monitor stays working a while longer. Have you tried the Yahoo Freecycle groups? They are all over the world, so there must be one not too far from you. You can post things you no longer want to give away for free (idea is to keep things out of the landfills) and often someone posts an old monitor they no longer need but that still works. Just an idea.

Hugs,

Janet
