I can't make up my mind on this election--anyone else having the same diffic ulty? One minute I'm sure--the next, I am not. Too much rhetoric--not enough? I am afraid I will have no decision until I reach the votying booth--what's one to do--jjnance2

I hear you Janet. It is so tough when the things that are important to you overlap with the candidates. Personally, I am pro-choice. But I am imagining what my viewpoint would be if I weren't pro-choice. There are all these complicated issues - the war, security here on US soil, health care, the basic soundness of economy and people losing their jobs...it's all so complicated. I think what I do is start with the basics - roof over our heads, food to eat, a job so that we can take care of ourselves and family. My dad sort of taught me that - if you don't have those basic things, then you are so busy trying to secure them that you don't have time to deal with the other things. You can't have a house without a foundation, and we can't survive in this country without an economy. It always ends up being the lesser of evils, doesn't it. I respect your viewpoint - the abortion issue is another complicated issue that I am very torn on. It seems like all of the things that really mean anything in this world are not cut and dry - so many shades of gray.

My most serious concern with Obama is his total support of the pro-choice agenda. That, to me, is scary. I hate the war, but grown men and women can defend themselves and our soldiers are in the military by choice. Our tiny pre-born citizens can't defend themselves. This issue is what has me anguishing about my vote more than any other.

I have noticed that Obama seems to have a much "cooler head" than McCain. McCain sort of flies by the seat of his pants and gets excitable and makes impulsive decisions (like choosing Palin out of desperation and like his trying to back out of the debate). A president surely does need to be able to handle more than one crisis at a time! Obama was smart enough to select a VP that even though he is a bit of an ass, at least he knows foreign policy very well and that was needed. I believe Obama has a much better grasp of the economy, and I believe he will not allow the Wall Street and Washington greed to continue. I have mixed feelings about the war because I know it is a very complicated issue but my first concern is our economy. If our eonomy is in shambles we will be so much more vulnerable to attack here in the USA as we will be preoccupied with trying to survive and we sure won't have enough money to properly fund our military.

For me, the eonomy is the key issue. That and healthcare.

I've never been so passionate about a candidate before. I think if we elect McCain we are doomed to more disaster. I know that some people (even though they don't want to admit it, even to themselves) have a fear of Obama because he is half black. I feel that this man truly represents the real America - the lower and middle classes, and all races. I watch him and his wife, and they impress the hell out of me. So articulate, intelligent, committed, compassionate. I am 100 percent for Obama and this is going to be a tight race. I am praying that Obama will get elected so that our country has a chance at survival.

I am totally having the same problem. So many variables, pro and con. Dumb choice for VP, where they stand on the issues, how they are dealing with this financial crisis our country is in right now....sigh. I hope I can feel more sure a month from now.
