Mia’s Story

When I met Mia yesterday it was love at first sight for both of us.  I stood at the front of her cage with the door open petting her.  After a few seconds of being petted she got up, came up to me put her paws on my belly. She  reached her paw up to my chin as if to say,  Please take me home! I'll be a good girl.

Mia is an 11 year-old cat that has been living in the kennel at my veterinarian's office since April.  She was given up by her owners simply because she was too old, traded in for a newer  model!

Her story is sad comment on how some people view their animals as disposable.  Her previous owner scheduled an appointment with my vet to Euthanise Mia and her sister.  When she brought them in to the office she stated that the cats were too old.  She wanted her 2 year old child to grow up with a kitten.  Imagine that, teaching a child that family members are not worthy of love and devotion when they get old!

The vetrinarian refused to Euthanise the healthy senior sisters.   The loser woman  signed over ownership to the vet so that he could find homes for them.

Mia's sister was adopted awhile ago.  Mia will be coming home with me on thursday!

Yes, Bless You! Mia will no doubt have many wonderful, loving years with you.

Our cats are Tashia Rae (19 years old), Cricket Kitty (12 years old) and we just took in a little kitten from a stray cat; never have seen the other kittense or the mothor cat that we heard about.

The only way we would consider euthensing our pets is if they were in terrible  pain and there there wasn't any hope of relieving it, otherwise. We believe that is the loving, compassionate thing to do. But just because they're no longer wanted; that's rediculous!

We're proud of you!!

Bless you, Jaek! Mia is a very lucky old lady. I'm sure, from what you related, she will be far more loved in her golden years than she ever was before. Enjoy each other!
