I had cut yards(hit a few sprinkler heads) and was a paperboy until we had to "fold um" and "porch um".
But my first "real" job was at Gulf-Mart in San Antonio Texas. That store sold food, clothes, sportin goods, you-name-it. Made being a packageboy a challenge. Pay was a buck sixty five an hour, translation(1.65 a hour). Had to wear a white shirt and a funky bow tie. Cashiers had to actually punch the prices into clunky old machines. No plastic bags, had to double sack the cold or heavy stuff.
You had to be a member, only cost a couple of bucks. This was back in 67, maybe this store was a first of its kind, long before the mega membership stores.
Maybe I was a "piece of history", but now most folks refer to me as a "piece of work", could be worse, they might refer to me as a "piece of ????", LoL....
Funny, back then I wanted to work(and stilll do), never understood about other folks not wanting to work that were capable of workin. Some things never change....
Howabout your first "real" job?????????
