High Stakes on the High Seas...again

Pirates of the Caribbean it is not. However piracy it is…

Good Morning.

The lovable Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is not commanding these vessels and the bullets fired are not Hollywood trickery blanks, they are real and fired by real modern day pirates. The latest attempt was in NAIROBI, Kenya - Pirates near Somalia chased and shot at a U.S. cruise liner with more than 1,000 people on board but failed to hijack the vessel, a maritime official said Tuesday. The liner, carrying 656 international passengers and 399 crew members, was sailing in the Gulf of Aden on Sunday when it encountered six pirates in two speedboats. The attempt was foiled due to the cruise ship being faster then the speed boats…seems like an oxy moron where the Cruise Ship being faster then a speed boat… This was a happy ending and in reports I have heard most have been happy endings other then those paying the ransoms. This is real and can only get real bad in the future. The pirates follow a so called pirate code in which hostages are to be treated with care, given food, water and potty breaks…did I just say potty? Hmmm that is not gay…so these individuals (pirates) are to follow this code however and so far no real harrowing incidents but, with each new heist brings more challenges for detainees as well as captures. I do not mean to make this sound romantic because it is far from it. These are real times and real people’s lives at stake. It’s not like actors who get shot appear in a new film, these people do mean business. They range in a variety of ages groups and most carry assault rifles and are not afraid to use them. They are a real threat and are not backing down. What is the next course of action? Lord only knows…but so far it is not just like a certain area where danger is lurking. It is over a 1000 of miles of Ocean to cover… I see future ships carrying armed guards or worse yet cruise ships accompanied by armed garrisons which are not free… in the long run cruises, are well as other luxuries will have added security costs tacked onto them…So those who have not went on a foreign cruise perhaps will choose not to ever…it is a sad, sad world we live in…however at present it is our only world…

Have a fabulous day because so far pirates do not run the Great Lakes….

A huge hug and many pats

I'm suprised the cruise line did not capitalize and charge the guests for the show!
In my experience, the guests would have cheered on and enjoyed their drinks. I certainly would have not allowed them to interupt the hairy chest dance competition or my Bahama Mama!
