Mom & Daddy
I've not traveled by train but my mother did back in the mid 1960's. I remember taking her to the station in Omaha, Nebraska. What a beautiful building! It has since become a museum.

Mom had a nice slow and liesurely ride to West Virginia to see my brother, Roger, who was in the Navy at the time. When she came back it was all she could talk about! She LOVED the train!!

She said she got to see so much of the country by riding that train; memories she would never forget.

Of course, my father used to "ride the rail" as it was called back then ('30's). That was when one didn't pay for a ticket; rode in a boxcar. He and a friend rode from western Iowa to Washington state. He also loved the trains. They visited many "camps" along the way, too. My, how times have changed!

While most people complained about train whistles my parents loved the sound of them and the trains going through town. It brought back many wonderful memories for them.
