book fair
I brought a fold up table, a bright Indian type blanket as a cover, and set my books out for sale at the authors fair in Ishpeming, Michigan. There was 19 authors there and I met most of them and gained valuable knowledge of the book selling circuit. People walk by and it's all in the talk and the look of your book to sell them. I have my book reviews laminated, I have my business cards handy for them to take, but it is me selling me. I believe in my book and I sell it with confidence. I sold 5 copies in 3 hours and out sold most. It was my dream come true.. One writer talked of how little he makes because he went through a publisher and he was amazed I had gone alone and done it so well. I told him and I'll tell you the key is having the right person at the printing company who can get you through the process of ISBN numbers, bar codes and such. I am seriously thinking of setting up work shops on 'how to publish' seminars. One writer who has done it tells me he will help me get started. I can't wait... It's all about getting the book in the stores and going to craft shows or events to sell from booths. And, I am going to try an old method of going camp to camp and selling myself and my book. Writers say the easy part is writing the book and I'm hard pressed to disagree.... Keep writing and if I can be of any help, just ask? I'll try to post more and jump start this group. It's important to me and hopefully for you.... keep smiling and have a ton of faith.....Easy
