Good post Mary Lou. Positive affirmations have always helped me too. So often all the positive things going on in your life are buried under all the sad things and it is hard to bring that "Good" to the surface.

I always look at a half a glass of water as half full and not half empty. I also take time to think positive. I have a song I sing every morning on the way to work. It goes I'm healthy, I'm happy, etc. It works for me. Remember when they were talking on the news that positive thinking and prayer would heal cancer patients? Why wouldn't it keep us healthy if we did the same thing?

Thank you for the post and the reminders. The last two lines are so important too. "I know it is hard to express gratitude when you are depressed. Even so going to a mirror and saying 4 or 5 positive things does help, I know I've tried it." Amen to that. As for looking in the mirror...I try not to do that first thing in the morning. PS humor helps also!

Gratitude Journal
Years ago Oprah used to encourage all her viewers to keep a gratitude journal. In this journal you are to write down five things each day that you are grateful for. This is similiar to expressing your gratitute to the mirror but for those of us who are not comfortable with doing this, the gratitute journal may be just the ticket for you.

Gratitude helps you become happier
I was just reading about graditude yesterday. It was saying the more we Thank God for things; you will find more and more things to be grateful for. And you feel the Love of God; and you feel happier. Graditude does take awareness and effort to feel and express it. It is a Spirit filled principle. Graditude opens our minds to a universe permeated with a richness of a living God. Thru it we become aware of the wonder of the smallest things, which gladden our hearts with their message of God's love. This awareness increases our sensitivity to divine direction. When we say things with gratitude, we can be filled with the Spirit and we can become more connected to the things around us, and the Lord. Graditude inspires happiness. We need to live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which God gives us. Mercies and blessings come in different forms. Sometimes hard things. Jesus said to Thank God in all things. All things means good things and difficult things. God knows that to be grateful makes us happy. This is another evidence of God's Love. How do you feel when someone expresses graditude to you?? It brings happiness, doesn't it? How do you feel when you express graditude? Most of these ideas I copied from what I read yesterday. But it does give us something to think about, doesn't it?? Mary Lou XXXXXOOOOO I know it is hard to express gratitude when you are depressed. Even so going to a mirror and saying 4 or 5 positive things does help, I know I've tried it. --------------------------------------------------------------

It's me I'm back for awhile
Well it's almot 5 AM. I've been on the computer for almost 5 hours. Lately we hve been looking into moving again. Our landlord sold the duplex we just moved into last October, back to the bank. I've been spending my time trying to get a job to get more income; and I spent more money than I made. I keep forgetting that after so many days they charge you for using their website, etc. That gratitude journal, is about what a friend suggested we do. She wanted us to write down 5 things each day, that we were grateful for. She was in charge of a group of us, but with all the assignments she gave us to do, our group decreased each week. Till finally she and we all gave up. The person who suggested it said her daughter wrote down the same 5 things every day. I know I had a hard time thinking of 5 things each day, too. I have also been busy making new friends. But after I write them a few times, I don't know what else to talk about or I get busy doing something else. And we get distanced apart. I like the groups alot though, because I can come every few days and get caught up on what's going on and add something every once in a while. For awile it seemed like I was the only one posting things in a few of my groups. One of them no one's posted anything for months. Plus alot of people have only been looking and not writing anything. Well that's what is going on with me lately. Mary Lou Hugs.
