Yeah, I remember going to the drive in movies and the speaker u were talking about that u fastened to the window. There were several times they would forget about it and start to drive off with it still attached to the window. Do u remember the long straws with kool-aid in them and the little wax coke bottles? Another thing we would do in our town .......u could go to the walk in movies on tuesday night by bringing 6 bottle tops. That's all it cost to get in.
Man, u r right. Those were the days.

Me too
I remember at the A&W car hop, my parents would pay a little more and order our rootbeer in the baby mugs. The were glass and you took them home. I still have one. Also, the drive in movie that we went to had a playground in front of the screen where your parents could watch you play. My parents had a station wagon so they made a bed in the back and when we got tired we just went to sleep. One time it was a double feature that our parents thought we'd be asleep for the second half. I still remember the film "Prudence and the pill (birth control)" considered a little riske for children. It was about all these women's pills getting switched by husbands, etc. And yes when I was older it was the ultimate date....ah memories. Teens/adults today are really missing something.

Shoney's around here that had the bar hops.

I use to think that was the grandest thing ... talking into a box and your order coming out by a girl/guy who was on roller skates.

Loved going to the restaurants that had the individual Juke Boxes at the booths.

Fridays nights we would go to the Drive Ins and have a blast. When we were little, we would go with our parents and have on our PJs. Momma would have made us a bed in the back seat and she would put the stuff animals that we slept with in the back seat too. When we were older, we would pile a bunch of us in the car and go to the Drive In. Sometimes we had some guys in the trunk of the car ... hehehe ... then we would flirt and visit with our friends in stead of watching the movie.

Ahhh ... seems so long ago.

What about the Drugstores that had the Soda Fountains in them.

We use to think that was the biggest treat, go to the Drugstore with momma. She would shop for whatever she needed, then we would have a soda or ice cream before we left. Yummy!

I remember car hops....drive-in movies
Do you remember when places like A&W Rootbeer restaurants had car hops? I used to think that was so cool. All you had to do was pull into a parking space and this girl would skate over to the car and take your order. (Yes, they wore roller skates) You never had to leave the car: order, pay, eat--without ever getting out. 'Course we did get out to visit other friends who were also hanging out at the A&W.

Drive-in movies were the rage. Remember sneaking extra people in, in the trunk of the car? I always expected to get caught, even though I wasn't the driver and the car wasn't mine. Remember the speaker you hooked to the car's window? The snack bar at the drive-in? Making out instead of watching the movie? ahh... the good old days!

There's a small town called, Ravenna, Ohio that still has a drive in theater and an A&W Root beer stand with car hops. No roller skates though. It's just a simple town. Still has many of it's original buildings. They don't even have a public bus service. Just a bus for college students to go to school and back home again. Kent State University. I know you all remember Kent State University from the Vietnam War Protests of the sixties. Well, it's still their right outside of Ravenna, Ohio. It's just one of those towns that are great for raising kids in. It's even biracial but everyone gets along in Ravenna. It's a really great little town. I hope it stays that way.
