Not Canadian, but....

Not Canadian, but my ancestors came to Canada many moons ago from Wales and lived on Grand Manan Island.  He was a seaman for 28 years of his young life and serve in the Civil War in the United States when Captain Semmes took him off his ship.  I love this ancestor and find myself more liking to him - I love the sea and the way he lived.  Just think of all the adventures he had at the time.

I do love Canada, but hear your Health Care isn't too good at the moment and that doctors there are finally admitting it is bad in some parts.  Was in Ontario a couple times - love that wild life and beauty you have.  And at some point in time after getting a passport I would love to go to Grand Manan Island and trace my cool Welsh ancestor even more - since my parents cannot travel that far anymore.

Thank you for inviting me - oh, and I love that picture of the Mountie on the horse that is awesome.

Hugs to you all, Christiane  (Hugs are therapy for the soul)

Ontario, Canada

Had gone on a ski trip to Ontario twice many years ago with a single group, but I didn't ski at the time, so it was just hot chocolate and watching them ski at one of the ski resorts there.  It was fun with a live band at night and great conversation and people from all over Canada, and our group of American citizens just out for some fun.

I came back and years later took up cross-country skiing and loved it for a short time for our winters were really bad with hardly any snow, but cold as ice.  Then this year we finally got what we all wanted here in America, but alas I had gotten rid of my skis thinking we would just have cold as ice winters didn't expect this - so now I'm thinking of the winter months this year and at about September I'm thinking of buying cross-country skis and having some fun again at the golf courses, that are always flooded with skiers and that hot chocolate at the end of skiing with some added brandy at home.

It is so sad about those Canadian Mounties - I'll say a prayer for them, in hopes they are at peace.
