IN AGREEMENT
YES I DO AGREE WITH WHAT WALTER IS SAYIN..WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT REPORTS ARE GETING MADE... WHEN YOU FIND ANY PLACE THAT IS NOT COMPLYING WITH THE ADA.. DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU GET SOMEONES ATTENTION..EVEN IF THEY SEEM NOT SO HAPPY..WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR RIGHTS ARE STAYING PROTECTED..EACH TIME WE LET IT GO.. AND DON'T COMPLAIN ...THAT MAKES IT ALL THAT MUCH EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO NOT COMPLY..FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ADA SAYS..I'LL POST SOME INFO HERE IN A COUPLE DAYS..IT PROTECTS OUR RIGHTS IF IT IS ENFORCED AND IT'S UP TO EACH OF US TO MAKE SURE THAT IS HAPPENING..

Americans with Diabilities Act (ADA)
Just to follow-up on Miss Punkin's comment, we had a situation where I used to work where the railing at the front entrance to the building (City Hall) was broken. Not only did citizens who needed it not have a handrail to hold on to, but because of the height it was broken at, it also presented a hazard to anyone who might have fell on it. I made a bootius maximus out of myself until the Buildings and Grounds Department came over and repaired it. Walter

American Disabiblities Act
I agree completely . I have tried for years to get on SSI and I have been turned down and very thing . I can hardly walk , I am on seizure meds I get serve headaches . have carpole tunnel in both my hands and arms which hurts all the thime and it limits what I can do . So now at almost 60 years old I am without a job and trying to find one because I have nothing to live on. Nobody wants to hire an old person , they say they don't but that is a lie. I can no longer work at what I did before because of my health . I am basicly screwed . I guess after years of working , you get nothing ! Sorry to rant ,but it makes me mad. Sharon

Americans with Diabilities Act (ADA)
Hey Sharon rant all you want -- that's one reason Miss Punkin and I created this group. . .to give those with disabilities a forum to vent in. As much as the government and private industry want to deny it exists, discrimination based on age still happens on a regular basis. Case in point: in 1982 my grandfather took early retirement after his company was purchased by RockTen -- a Tennessee based printing company. Try as he might for over a year he couldn't get on with another printing company despite the fact that he had fifteen (15) years experience in the industry. The reaon? When the HR/Personnel Department saw "62" on his resume they weren't interested and, sadly, without a long court-battle nothing could be done to change that. Walter

Americans with Diabilities Act (ADA)
Tell me if you agree -- the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has to some extent fallen by the wayside. I say that because, other than seeing the obligatory statements related to it on job applications, you don't hear it mentioned much anymore and, more and more, it seems like many new businesses don't worry about their establishment being compliant. Is it just me or do you think enforcement of the ADA has slacked off? Walter
