SLEEP APNEA results
Today my husband and I went to find out my results of my SLEEP APNEA test. We got in and out of there in about 10 or 15 minutes. Maybe longer, but that's how quick we got the results. Take a guess at how often I stopped breathing each hour I was taking the test?? Every hour 27 times. That's about all he said. I asked him about my leg twitching. He said I did it alot [I don't remember exactly], BUT it only woke me up 13 times. SO he did not feel it was important. They sent my information to someone who wanted us to come get the C-pap machine. They said they only delivered to people who can't get there. When I told her I would have to come by bus, she said they would bring it to me. LOVE and HUGS Mary Lou

I went through that Mary Lou and had to wear the cap. It isn't fun, but sure does help. I don't have the problem now that I lost a lot of weight. The doctor claims that it has a lot to do with it, but my brother also lost a lot of weight and still has it but not as bad. I guess I was lucky on that part.

CPAP
I've been wearing a CPAP since 2001 (on my second machine). The first one did not have any water tank associated and my mouth would get terribly dry. I got the new one a little over a year ago and it has made a dramatic difference. They can be tough to get used to, but perserverence will pay off. I would have difficulty sleeping w/o my machine. And yes, I believe I could probably eliminate the machine with a weight loss.

How does loosing weight affect my breathing??
Thanks for your replies. You both mention losing weight would make it so you would or might not need the C-pap machine. For me I do not think that would make any difference since I think but can't say for sure I have had the breathing problem since the seventies. And then I was in my 20's and not overweight like I am now. Plus having my tongue close over my throat is what causes my problem. I do not understand how being overweight would be affected by that. Basically because it is when I am on my back and very relaxed that I have a problem with stopping breathing. It does wake me up and when it wakes me up in the morning or after I have taken a nap l feel chest pain and I find myself gasping for air. How that would be affected if I was to loose some weight I do not know. Please explain. LOVE, Mary Lou
