Folks just don't realize. . .
. . .how difficult it can be to do even the smallest thing if you're in a wheelchair. Other than being moved in a wheelchair once or twice at the hospital, I've never been in one for an extended period of time, however, I've tried using them just to see if I could and it's much more difficult than it looks. My hat's off to those who must depend on them on a daily basis!

I know the feeling...
Once upon a time many years ago when my daughter was small and my husband worked away from home. I tripped and broke my ankle.
My husband being away, I had to depend on my neighbor Pam to help me. She came over one day and filled up my kerosene heater I used at the time. I was using a wheelchair at the time. Pam left and I was starting to get hungry so off to the kitchen I went. She didn't think that if she left the kerosene can in the middle of the entrance to the kitchen that I wouldn't be able to get into the kitchen. I could not pick the can up for it was too heavy. Do not get me wrong I'm thankful for my friend. It made me think of the obstacles people with disabilities go though...

YES IT IS VERY HARD
I WAS IN A WHEEL CHAIR FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT.. AND AS YOU SAID YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT THE SMALL THINGS THAT BECOME HUGE OBSTACLES..AND I THINK EVERY ABLE BODIED PERSON SHOULD TRY IT JUST ONCE AND SEE WHAT FOLKS DEAL WITH DAILY..WHO ARE DEPENDANT UPON ONE..FOR MANY JUST PULLING YOURSELF ALONG BECOMES NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE SOME DAYS..MOST DISABILITIES THAT PUT YOU IN A WHEELCHAIR WILL ALSO AFFECT YOUR UPPER BODY STRENGTH AS WELL IN SOME WAY..THERE ARE MANY ACTIVITIES THAT POEPLE CAN DO TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND OTHERS DISABILITIES AS WELL... LIKE WEARING A BLINDFOLD FOR A COUPLE HOURS..OR USING CRUTCHES FOR A DAY.. OR EATING WITH OUT USING YOUR FINGERS..WE CAN ALL BE GRATEFULL FOR SOMETHING IN OUR LIVES WHEN WE WALK A MILE IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES..HAVE A GREAT DAY..PUNKIN
