Everything from Classical to Inspirational though today’s vulgar Rap is not my cup of tea. Kids today have no idea what they are missing by an intriguing love song. Their six note melodies have no art to it. But, now they like it and it is theirs to have.

I’m a certified Couch Potato among other things. I have got to re-acquaint myself with active fun things. At present I’d say the computer is my favorite hobby and that’s good or I wouldn’t be here and you wouldn’t be reading this

There comes a time in a person’s life when they must accept reality. They must face the facts they are not quite as invincible as once thought. Recently, I was put into that position. My aches and pains were to the point I thought maybe the doctor should take a look. Just like the dentist when I arrived at his office – no pain. Do these guys have an electro magnetic barrier that shuts down discomfort at their door but since you are going to be charged anyway you still go in? Well he prodded and pushed - no pain. BUT – “Son, your Blood Pressure is too high.” Son – I’m 20 years older than you. Okay we have gotta get that down. “Okay but what caused it to go up?” What’s happening in your life? There it is, STRESS. For the past six months it has been a real pressure cooker at work. “How old are you my friend?” “Okay, have you considered retiring?”
RETIRING???
Well to make a long story very short, I decided to RETIRE. It is time for someone else to pick up the torch and carry it on. So, here I am retired. It’ll take a little getting used to at first but I think if I keep the same basic routine and set up a schedule to follow I’ll do fine. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll see if I can find a part-time job to have a few extra bucks to maybe travel on. We’ll see. I have a woman I’m seeing and she thinks it’s great. Guess I could say I have a girlfriend. We like to do things together and now we’ll have a bit more flexible schedule to allow that. She too is retired but from a disability known as Dystonia. It’s a neurological ailment that causes muscles to fight each other. It is a nasty condition similar to Parkinson’s. Like the rest of these things no known cure just some medical solutions to relieve the discomfort. Her recent bout with the flu reeked havoc on the Dystonia.
So – That’s all the news on this end. There is enough work around this house to keep me busy for a few months. I’ll have time now to work on the roses I have ignored most of the past year. Trim the bushes, mow the yard, rebuild the patio cover, some spring cleaning, tinker on the car – yup there are a few things to keep me busy. May even visit the local American Legion Post to see what they have to offer. AS I said – we’ll see what happens.
I enjoy travel.
This is such a wide country and there is so much to see. If I were independently wealthy I would buy a motor home and travel to all the little towns in all of these United States. I have a curiosity that will not quit. I love to learn about anything. I visit cemeteries to see who is resting there. The older the better. I did that when I went to Europe, also. During my walk through Arlington I came upon Robert Kennedy’s site, a simple cross and as I looked up I saw Ivan C Kincheloe’s marker. He was an Air Force test pilot for whom the base I was stationed at was named. In Philadelphia, I was taking a picture and backed up tripping over Ben Franklin. I find memories by accident.
I’ve operated a small business of one kind or another since I was in my twenties to supplement my income. Teaching has many rewards but income is not one of them. My late wife operated Elegant Affairs a catering company. She made many good friends through her fine service and great food.
I look forward to the future to see the world as it grows and improves. There has been so much done since I was a kid I can’t wait to see all that’s ahead. Today’s children rarely know what it was to play with a wooden truck or a suki-jane doll. They have everything with all the bells and whistles. I remember my first Tonka truck. It was strictly hand operated. I bought antique one exactly like it and it is on the shelf above me. Memories -- black & white pictures, the Green Hornet on radio, Mel Allen describing the NY Yankees play be play, our first TV, graduations in cap and gowns and always hot. Growing up in Nutley, N.J. a small town less than 10 miles west of NYC and the closeness of friends. A recent trip there revealed not much had changed in 40 years. The people were just as friendly as I remembered.
Not a noted dignitary, not a wealthy merchant but contented soul. Some of you may remember the hometown of Nutley from “Martha Stewart - Living” magazine. She talked a lot about it as it was her hometown also. She graduated a year before me and contrary to published reports by an author that was not there -- she was a very nice person in High School. That’s about it -- that’s me.[/size]

I enjoy people in general. I prefer those who can discuss topics sensibly and not get angry because I may disagree with them. Widowed last year set me back for a year. You find out just what is important and what is NOT. Nasty people are not.
I enjoy Motor Racing especially open wheeled -- Indy Cars, Cart and Formula !
I support my Diamondback and Phoenix Suns. The Cardinals to a lesser degree. I just wish they could have a winning season once in a while. We gave them what they wanted ~ ~ the most technologically advanced stadium in the league and still -- oh well.
Politics has gotten to me. I was against the war before we went there. Now we have a real mess and too many good Americans are either dying or being severely injured, and for what? Someone’s personal vendetta

Hardheaded jerks and those who are in love with themselves. They make life difficult.
Our summer heat. I often refer to my address as being two blocks north of Hell. How people lived here a 100 years ago is purely amazing. I’m fine until we get in that 105º to 115º range and in the sun. That is when it gets hot. Shaded isn’t that bad, though. Funny thing is that when I was in service I was stationed in Northern Michigan and one year Lake Superior froze all the way to Canada. We had over 30 days it never got above zero. Now that was cold. Now I live on the opposite end of that thermometer. Our temperatures closely reflect Iraq but they have soo much sand and dirt that blows. I sympathize with our troops on the heat. I just don’t have to wear another forty pounds of protective clothing.
