Problems with my daughter's pregnancy
Posted On 04/16/2008 19:29:04 by teacup49

Two weeks ago my daughter went into her OB/Gyn Doctor for her monthly checkup on her pregnancy, they sent her for blood work and two days later her doctor called to say they found a problem and were sending her to Mobile to the at risk pregnancy clinic all he would tell her was that the test had come back showing that the problem was an open spinal cord, but he told her not to worry that a lot of times the test came back that and once they did an ultra sound they found nothing wrong.

So on Monday she went to Mobile for the ultra sound. She said that while they were doing the ultra sound a doctor came in and told her that they had found that the baby's liver and bowels were outside the body and that they could not tell about the heart because the baby was too small to tell. The doctor then told her that she needed to terminate the pregnancy because there was no way the baby could live, gave her some information sent in a councilor and left her. Of course she was so shook up that she just wanted to come home. She called me and let me know what was going on and asked me to come to her house the next morning. She explained to me that the doctor told her that the termination would be not like an abortion but more like inducing labor. They had given her some phone numbers to call and was told at each of the clinics that it would be an abortion. She could not go through with making an appointment and told me she didn't know what she was going to do. Anyway I had to leave and I asked her to call me later and let me know what she had decided to do. I know it was going to be the hardest decision she would ever have to make and I felt that all I could do was support her no matter what she decided.

Later she called me, but she wasn't crying or upset anymore, she said that she had called the clinic back in Mobile to ask them to again explain to her what was wrong with the baby. They said the diagnosis was an ectopic cordis, which is the baby's heart had formed outside the body, she told them that was not what she had been told before any way they kind of got snotty with her and told her she needed to decide what she was going to do. She called her OB/Gyn doctor who told her that she needed to do what ever the doctors in Mobile told her to do. By now she was really upset with both sets of doctors so she called her Medicaid worker at the hospital and told her what was going on, and that she wanted to see a different doctor. Today we went to town and she filled in a grievance with Medicaid so she could change doctors to one who is a high risk pregnancy doctor and so she could get a second opinion. She has decided not to get the abortion and to go with God on this. I am asking all of my MBP's friends to lift her and her baby up in prayer. I will keep you all posted on what is going on, we are suppose to see the other doctor on Friday and go tomorrow and get all of her records from her old doctor.

May this doctor add clarity and compassion.  May your daughter keep not only faith but laughter in her life.  All I read points to walking and laughter as the greatest healers.  This is a great time of the year for her to walk.  I hear the birds singing and the see the golden glow of the sunrise as I type.  May all of you have the strength and the faith needed.  God bless each and every one of you,

I also will be in prayer for your daughter and this precious baby.
Please keep us updated as you are able to do so.   God bless and be with you all during this very difficult time.

I join my prayers with all the others. Miracles do happen when we honor God and respect life. May He give you all a sense of peace in whatever comes. Big hugs for all and prayers for a special blessing for this new little life.

Janet
