Fall Out Boy, MCR, Breaking Benjamin, etc.
This is the music that my kids listen to and I LOVE it. My husband, not so much ~

We were going to the store yesterday and I asked him if we could listen to my music in the truck. he said "Do you have anything earlier than 2000?"

I hardly think that's fair... I have lots of oldies on my ipod - just not oldies he likes or they're oldies he has on his anyway.

He listens to A LOT of spanish music - Mana, Juanes, Los Lonely Boys, along with a lot of Grupo Limite that I don't like.

No nuetrality with us, we either love it or hate it, it seems. So it's AWESOME to come to Boomers and see ALL kinds of music.

A couple weeks ago, my son (he's 24) took me to a Fall Out Boy concert. I LOVED IT!!! I had a blast and my husband would have just hated it. Is anybody else out there fans of FOB, MCR (My Chemical Romance) BB or 12 Stones? What about Chris Daughtry? 3 Doors Down? Nickelback? Hinder? Somebody reassure me I'm not the only oldster (my son's word for me) out there listening to kiddie rock 'n' roll... please?

It's not all I listen to, not by any means, but I really do enjoy it... just feel kinda out of place amongst my peers.

Have a great evening ~

Karen

"Kiddie" Music

Hey Karen!

Sorry I haven't been back here for so long...with everything happening on Facebook it seems that's the only place I've been logging in for the past few years...I keep forgetting about the boomer place!

I can't concur about all of the bands that you mentioned, but I have listened to most of them along with my kids. I have a 16 year old daughter at home still, plus a 15 year old grandson, so I get exposed to a lot of the new music being passed around. I hate to admit it, but they listen to more mainstream music that is played on "normal" radio around here, but they have other issues going on so I don't want to make their musical taste another one. If they are comfortable listening to Lil Wayne or whatever, that's ok with me. My older daughter, who is turning 24 this year, shares a better class of music with me! We like a lot of the local bands, who have a very eclectic range. One of the Flint bands that I really like is called Empty Orchestra. They have a Facebook page you can like to get acquainted with their music if you like: http://www.facebook.com/emptyorchestra?ref=ts&sk=app_204974879526524. They have a loose membership, mainly whoever is available at the time gets together to play/record!

I have also recently (within the past year!) been to a concert for a Chicago group called Smokin' Popes who came to Flint to play. They are really together! I have a cd of their best stuff, and they were touring to promote their latest cd. They have a cool website: http://www.smokingpopes.net/ If they come to your neighborhood I recommend catching their show! Looks like they will be back in Michigan next month...ROAD TRIP!!

Other than that, I don't listen much to stuff on the radio, just because...
