Adventures of working in nursing homes!
Finishing up my patients hair late one Friday afternoon , I told her she looked "HOT". She had been a woman who evidently had a very adventurous life style before getting Dementia. She asked if I really thought she looked "HOT"? I said "now behave and leave me at least one nice guy! Don't hog them all!" She got so excited and asked what I was doing Saturday night, could we go to a bar ? Knowing from experience that Dementia & boarder line Alzheimer patients don't remember alot of the 'present'- I say "sure". She asks what time will you pick me up ? I say 9 p.m. we will meet at front desk."Okay then, 9 at the desk it is!"
Had a good weekend myself and didn't give my conversation with this lady much thought. After all....unfortunately most remember alot of there past but only some of the present.
The following Friday I go into work and upon arrival the Administrator approaches me. "Please come into my office".So, off I go figuring nothing can be wrong because I truly love my job & try to follow all the rules.
BOY ... was I wrong ! He says"did you tell Mrs. so & so that you would take her out Sat. night ?" I go .."oh that .." He says
"Oh that nothing !!" She was at the front desk at 8 p.m. and refused to go to bed for them ! Then came the better part
he says... " and a BAR NO less ! ! ! " Did get alittle chuckle out of him though ! SEE ? You never know !!!
