embarasing
When my girls were little ( there were 3 of them ) sometimes I had to spank them.. Being a single parent raising them was not always easy. One day nothing seemed to be working and they were all fighting.. I got out my plastic pancake turner and laid it on the table and told them if the fighting didn't stop they would get a spanking with the turner.. Things settled down really quick.. after that all i had to do was go to the kitchen drawer during a scuffle and rattle the utensils.. and they would say ok ok mom we will behave..

Sooooooooooo, one day at the grocery store they were all misbehaving, and we were in the check out line. I gave them THE LOOK ( you know the one we all have one) and the youngest who was in the seat in the cart started crying and saying.. Please mommy we will be good .. just dont get out the big knife to pushish us when we get home.... everyone in line heard her and the clerk gave me the strangest look I have ever had.. I wanted to run from the store and if I could have I would have hidden in the cracks in the floor. Needless to say I never threatened them again.. with the kitchen drawer rattle.

Children can embarrass the heck out of you at times!
That was a good story, Sue!

My grandchildren have learned a respect for a flat wooden spoon who is rightly named, "Mr. Sad." All their parents have to do is ask, "Do I have to get out MR. SAD????" Mr. Sad even has a frowning face drawn on give "him" more of an effect.
