Asthma , and bad bronchitis
If you want to collect this bark yourself here is a list of the different wild Cherry tree you can collect from. Virginian prune, black cherry, black choke, choke cherry, rum cherry. Should be collected in the fall and use the inner bark.

Here we go again, American Indians have used this bark for years, and finally our society is catching up to it. I know that someone will find something telling you that there are carcinogens in most tree bark. So don't drink too much of it! And don't give this tea to children. It has a substance called cyanogenic glycosides including prunasin. In general ingesting this tea is pretty safe but you might want to check it out first.

Some of the actions are antitussive, expectorant, mild sedative, astringent, digestive bitter, tonic, pectoral, stomachic. It is used in my culture for asthma, irritable and persistent cough of bronchitis, pertussis, cough due to increased irritability of respiratory mucosa. Nervous dyspepsia and, if you find yourself caught in the woods and you go into (childbirth) labor it will help that as well. Do not use the leaves they have been known to kill cattle.

Can you imagine the poor Father to be who say hang in there baby I will find some bark to help you through the labor! As he runs off she will be throwing rocks at him, saving one for when he gets back, poor fellow! As with anything don't make this your iced tea to drink all the time it might make you sick, just keep it for medicinal purposes. Here is a place to buy some. Wild Cherry Bark Tea - 25 tea bags - ZIN: 514025 I will upload a picture of a wild cherry tree I'm sure you will recognize the bark.
