This group came about as a result of a conversation that Ms_Punkin and I were having about disabilities and to provide other Boomers with a place where they can discuss their disability, ask questions or if they just need a place to vent. Being an adult survivor of Hydrocephalus I understand all too well the need to have a place to vent because - as unbelieveable as it sounds - I still encounter so-called "adults" who make fun of me. It's been said that everyone has some form of a disability (for my wife it's diabetes as well as athritis) and, therefore, we hope that everyone will stop by and be an active participant in our group.

HI..I'M MISS_PUNKIN...AS WALTER SAID WE WERE DISCUSSING DISABILITIES WHEN WE DECIDED TO CREATE THIS GROUP. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A WELL BODIED PERSON AND NEVER THOUGHT THAT MUCH ABOUT PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES,WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE ONE. 5 YEARS AGO I FOUND THAT I HAD OSTEO ARTHRITIS AND BADLY NEEDED A KNEE REPLACEMENT. I HAD THAT DONE BUT I STILL NEED TO HAVE THE OTHER ONE DONE. I USE CRUTCHES AND A SCOOTER WHEN NECESSARY. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY I HAVE BEEN TREATED ONCE I HAD A VISIBLE DISABILITY. WALTER AND I WELCOME EVERYONE WITH OR WITHOUT DISABILITIES. LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US TO LIVE..WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE WORLD BUT WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE ONE AROUND EACH OF US. THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY..MARGIE
