Porcelain Dolls

My wife, Cathy, makes porcelain dolls. She starts by pouring the molds, all the way to making the clothing. It can be costly, but in the right area, can also be profitable. They can also be entered into contests. A first or second place ribbon can increase your respectability as a doll maker. These dolls can bring hundreds of dollars! It's not a major business, but great for folks with time and patience to work on from home!

I collect antique bisque head dolls from the 1800's to the early 1900's.  I would also love to see the dolls. I have about 25 in my collection so far. The oldest one dates from 1865. They are worth a lot of money but I could never sell them. My friends jokingly call them "My girls." I wish we were closer as I am always looking for someone to sew new dresses for them. A while back I paid a lady to make a couple of gowns for my girls and she actually lost some of my material. It pissed me off as it was very expensive velvet with ribbons sewn into it and was no longer available. I quit using her and now sew the dresses myself. But I do not enjoy sewing very much and would love to have someone who would do it if I paid them!
