McCartney's new car causes a stir
Sir Paul McCartney has run into a teapot sized tempest for having a hybrid Japanese car flown to him in Britain rather than having it shipped. The $158,000Lexus LS 600h is a high performance luxuary car that uses an electiric motor at low speeds. It was a gift to the ex Beatle from Lexus which sponsered his 2005 US tour. Environmentalists quickly noted that the shipping of the car by air negated the car's green impact. It is like driving the car 300 times around the world. It seems like someone at Lexus made an error in judgement. It was not clear if McCartney who is a strict vegetarian and a dedicated environmentalist who refuses to wear leather shoes, knw the vehicle would arrive by air.

I'm sure lots of other things were being shipped along with the car. I know people who travel numerous times to the store in one day, instead of getting supplies at one time. Civilized nations are very wasteful. It's only a big deal because he's famous. He probably would have had it brought some other way had he known or even considered it.

Yeh that is what I thought too. And yes you are right. Supposed civilized nation are really wasteful. I wonder if those who complained about this are really are that careful themselves....
