Don’t judge me, you don’t know my heart.
It isn’t my dark side, but at times I have one
Sometimes I put up walls because trust has been shattered in the past
By those I held closest to me.
Reaching out isn’t always easy,
But I try.
I can be stubborn
I can be shy
But I’m always human.
Respect me for who I am;
I spent a lifetime getting here.
I may not always say or do the right things,
But I mean no harm.
I have my boundaries as do you;
I try to respect yours, so respect mine.
I like who I am, but like you, I can use improvement.
If you like or even love me;
It’s because of who I am
Not what I look like or what I have
Or even what I my job may be.
If I were different, you might not like me.
Don’t try to change me;I am in the process of learning how to live
As you are.
I am the sum of all my experiences.
Some were wonderful, memorable and sweet.
Others were difficult, stressful and sad.
Yet, they somehow balanced out to develop who I am.
If I knew no hardship, I wouldn’t appreciate the good things when they happen.
Difficult times aren’t failures, but the wrong way to do something.
It gives us a chance to try again and learn to do it right.
If you can accept my triumphs, learn to overcome my faults.
You have some too, and I try to overlook them.
Remember, you have bad/off days too; so try to understand when I have some.
If you must judge me, judge me for the many good things I do and have done.
They far outweigh the bad things.
Be my friend, for all things are possible from friendship.
Be my strength when I am weak.
My guide when I am lost.
When I talk, don’t just listen, but hear me.
When I’m lonely, be company by my side.
If I am hurt, comfort me.
If I cry, wipe away my tears.
When I am afraid, console me.
When I am tired, let me rest.
If I fail, encourage me.
If I succeed, celebrate with me.
When I’m old, be patient with me.
When I forget, be compassionate.
When I’m happy, share my happiness.
If you like me, learn to love me.
But please, don’t try to change me
Or you will miss out on the best part of me
The person I spent a lifetime trying to become.
