Clay, I really think you are talented! The concepts are very good and you seem to know your way around photoshop! Personally I prefer the coloring in the second one, but I'm not a big fan of yellow anyway. The more subtle colors allow the subject to appear more romantic, the first one is more outspoken.

What was your thought process in putting it together? I just wondered because in our computer art class the teacher wants us to be able to verbalize our concepts in front of the class when we do a critique of our finished projects. Right now we are doing Illustrator work and will start photoshop next week. I don't have my illustrator mask project totally finished, but I can post it here when it's done if you are interested.

Thank you
I appreciate your kind words. You too have a lot of talent. I really enjoy looking at your images.

I don't know that I really had a lot of thoughts putting it together. I know, as a photographer and an artist, that you are supposed to pre-visualize where you are going with a project or an image, but I don't always do that. Sometimes it's pure instinct and just creative ideas that instantaneously pop in there. There is a lot of math in the image though. 2 lines intersecting 4 lines, then 6 lines (strings) on the guitar with 5 frets showing. Through my last marriage I had three girls (three interlinked circles) and 1 boy (lone circle). The Yin-Yang has always fascinated me because of the dichotomy and time is always on my mind (as the enemy). Patterns were randomly selected after reviewing different ones.

There you have it. Pretty simple, not a lot of forethought or anything. I like the bright colors but I also like the soft, warm color. The warm soft look is very relaxing to me where as the bright colors demand attention.

Digital Art
This image isn't photography, but I mentioned it earlier so I thought I'd post it here anyway. It is the mask project that our class has been working on and started out as a photograph of my face but ended up being conceptual instead. Just couldn't work around the photograph effectively to say what I wanted about myself so it went this direction.

The concept is based on the chinese medicinal theory of Chi, the elements I chose to spotlight are earth and water. They are opposites on the element chart, earth representing spring and green, water being representative of winter and blue. The yin yang symbol was useful to seperate the two concepts and even the background, which is a gradient, goes from morning to night. I like the idea of transitions, this one showing my youth, birth of my six children, my gardening efforts etc. to my maturity, water represented by the Hokusai great wave (my appreciation of graphic design being renewed). I was pleased with the finished project.

Clay. unlike mamma I like the first one better than the second.

Everyone has different tastes you know. Anyway although I wouldn't have it hanging in my home I find it interesting.

Oh and Im not fond of the color yellow either.

I never dreamed these would go over like they have, but I've sold two of them now.

Clay,

You are very talented. I don't know if you want this much feedback, but I don't think the circles go with the rest of the collage. You're probably going for some contrast to the softer images but they don't look right to me in either collage.

I love the rest, though. I like the softer colors better. The yellow is too strong for my senses. But I find it fascinating how different each collage looks in different colors. They are both very nice. :-)
