Great to finally hear from you!! I was beginning to wonder!! Got a message on the puter yesterday morning that there was an update available to install. It is the Service Pak 1 for Vista and said it would help it run better. So I said ok. Took a fairly short time for part 1 & 2, then got stuck on 3 and stayed there. Couldn’t close it or anything. Turned off the tower and that same page came up. Fooled with it for 3 hours and finally called Microsoft. Guy ran me through the whole thing again and installation failed, after another 3 hours. Got a senior tech on the phone and he took control of puter and got rid of my Norton Antivirus. That wasn’t letting it install. So finally after another 2 hours got it!!! Was so sick of looking at the puter couldn’t stand it!!! What a way to spend an 80 degree, bright sunny day!!!! Hopeyour weekend is going great. I’m going to the next county over to the annual Pork Festival!! Oh boy! Pork Chops, pulled pork, all kinds of stuff! You have some fun too! and take care of yourself, love ‘n’ hugs, Marianne
PS ~ Still 51,000 in Dayton area without power, 62,000 in Cincinnati area, and 1,420 in Springfield area. There are now 15,000 workers from ten different states working on restoration.
I was so lucky getting my power back so soon. Many of my friends in outlying areas are still without power!! I’m still calling my friend to get her up for work. She’s a kitchen manager at O’Charleys here. Says they are packed all day long!! People can’t get food! Water is out in a lot of areas too because it takes electric pumps. Water and ice are commodities now! Very hard to find either! What a mess. But still not as bad as the Gulf!! I said that I could have fared better than a lot of people cause I’ve got all my camping gear. I could have at least cooked. Though I probably wouldn’t have had food left unspoiled to cook!! Here’s the latest update on what’s going on as of this morning!
“Ohio's utilities reported about 900,000 homes and businesses still without power, down from 2.6 million customers at some point after the windstorm hit Sunday. Nearly 350,000 still were without power Wednesday in Kentucky, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
Dayton Power & Light: Approximately 124,000 customers remain without service, down from more than 200,000 Sunday.
Duke Energy: (This is the Cincinnati area) Approximately 255,000 customers in eight southwestern Ohio counties remain without service, down from a peak outage of more than 600,000 customers.”

Been keeping myself busy by getting involved in the Resident Council in our apt. building, again! So I’ve spent a few days catching up on stuff from the last couple of years. Accepted the position of Nominating Committee Chair to run our upcoming elections. They’d love for me to run for President again, but I said no, I did 3 terms (6 years) and am done with that!! It kept me too busy!! Work on this will only last until the elections in November. Too busy going to see sis every other day to do any more than that. Maybe I’ll do a little more this Winter when I can’t get out as much, but this is enough for now. Other than that everything and everyone is doing well. Sis has been in really good spirits lately.
