Life is a lesson
Posted On 05/06/2008 00:33:17
Each experience in life is a lesson. It is these lessons that we learn that make us the unique person that we are. Whether we consider the experience good or bad, it is still a lesson and each lesson helps us grow. All things that live must grow, including man. A doctor spanks you upon birth, and before you can cry your indignity as this outrage, you have to take a breath. That is your first lesson on earth. You must learn to breathe. I'm sure you did not consider being born a pleasant experience, but it was a necessary lesson for you. As you grow you will have many experiences, good and bad, which are merely lessons in disguise. Each person who comes into your life has a lesson for you to learn. It may be to make you more loving, more tolerant, useful, dedicated, ambitious, joyful, appreciative,or even how to cope with things that you never thought you could. It may even be a lesson in learning to just slow down or hurry up.
People dont always come into your life to stay; they may only be there long enough to teach you the lesson that you need at that time. Even the death of a loved one teaches us that nothing is forever and perhaps that person had finished the lesson they had to teach you. Don't feel sad , lost or dejected; discover the lesson they came to teach you. We learn a lot of lessons we are unaware of. The majority of the we don't pay attention to. When as a result of our learning the lesson things turn out well, we say we are lucky. However, when things keep turning out bad we say..Why me? the answer to why me? is that you are not paying attention to the lesson you must learn. And the experiences will be repeated until you learn the lesson. Remember when you were in school, you could not move on to the next level until you had learned your lessons. Unpleasant people and experiences also teach lessons and avoidance of certain situations, learning to overcome nagativity and replacing it with positiveness, or how to cope with various situations that can tax you to the utmost. Even sickness can teach a lesson, giving you time to reevaluate yourself. All lessons are given to us that we may reach our full potential, the person we are supposed to be. Remember, each person and each event that comes into your life is a lesson for you to learn. But dont forget that you are also a lesson for whomever's life you touch.

The Power of One What Can You Do? Let Your Voice Be Heard

The Power of One — What Can You Do?

You are one individual.  You have bills to pay, errands to run, meals to prepare and in addition to your daily responsibilities, you must find time to manage your diabetes. In the midst of your daily responsibilities, how are you supposed to find time to talk about diabetes, let alone tell Congress what’s important to people with diabetes? What difference can one person make anyway?

A small pebble can create a strong ripple that is far reaching.  Much like that pebble, on May 1 more than 200 volunteers will make time to be heard, to create that ripple. ADA volunteers from around the country will come to Washington, DC to participate in the ADA’s Call to Congress. These volunteers meet with their members of Congress to increase awareness about diabetes.  In doing so, each volunteer will serve as a voice for the millions of people affected by diabetes.

During their meetings, volunteers will transform into advocates. They will urge Members of Congress to play a greater role in fighting diabetes by:

  • Increasing funding for diabetes research and prevention;
  • Protecting people with diabetes from discrimination; and
  • Supporting a multi-year continuation for the Special Diabetes Programs.

Diabetes now costs the United States $174 billion a year.  We can’t afford to ignore it.  So what can you do? What difference will your efforts make?

While you may not be able to trek to Washington, DC, you can join thousands of other dedicated volunteers in telling Congress what is important.

From the comfort of your own home, or in a park, at a mall, at your desk, you can:

Call Congress toll-free at 877-ADA-2008 between
8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (EST) from April 28 – May 2, 2008, and tell them we need more money for diabetes!

Letting lawmakers know how diabetes has touched you and your family can play a critical role in increasing Congress' understanding of why we need their help to fight this disease. For every call you make, you are speaking out on behalf of more than 21 million people living with diabetes! Help flood the Capitol Switchboard with calls to increase diabetes funding.

Cause a ripple and be part of the fight against diabetes.

Making Your Voice Heard - April 28-May 2
Call to Congress Call-In WeekCall to Congress

Join thousands of diabetes advocates for ADA’s 2008 Call to Congress Call-In on April 28 –May 2! That week, hundreds of diabetes advocates will be on Capitol Hill visiting with their Members of Congress - asking them to increase funding for diabetes research and prevention.

You can also get involved by joining them in a diabetes double-whammy by calling the toll-free Call-In number at 1-877-ADA-2008 the week of April 28th. With your help we will make sure that Congress gets the message that they need to do more to fight diabetes

While we were down there we did get some pictures but these are from evening so I hope you can see what we saw down there. I hope to get there during the day. We also took pictures of the antique store were this store had the news article on John Dillinger and there were replica's of guns and bullets and the Red Dress that was worn by a women named Anna Sage.
