GOD AND THE GEESE

There was once a man who didn't believe in God, and he didn't hesitate to let others know how he felt about "religion" and religious holidays. His wife, however, did believe, and she raised their children to also have faith in God and Jesus, despite his disparaging comments. One snowy Christmas Eve, his wife was taking their children to service in the farm community in which they lived. They were to talk about Jesus' birth. She asked him to come, but he refused. "That story is nonsense!" he said. "Why would God lower Himself to come to earth as a man? That's ridiculous!" So she and the children left, and he stayed home. A while later, the winds grew stronger and the snow turned into a blizzard. As the man looked out the window, all he saw was a blinding snowstorm. He sat down to relax before the fire for the evening. Then he heard a loud thump. Something had hit the window. He looked out, but couldn't see more than a few feet. When the snow let up a little, he ventured outside to see what could have been beating on his window. In the field near his house he saw a flock of wild geese. Apparently they had been flying south for the winter when they got caught in the snowstorm and couldn't go on. They were lost and stranded on his farm, with no food or shelter. They just flapped their wings and flew around the field in low circles, blindly and aimlessly. A couple of them had flown into his window, it seemed. The man felt sorry for the geese and wanted to help them. The barn would be a great place for them to stay, he thought. It's warm and safe; surely they could spend the night and wait out the storm. So he walked over to the barn and opened the doors wide, then watched and waited, hoping they would notice the open barn and go inside. But the geese just fluttered around aimlessly and didn't seem to notice the barn or realize what it could mean for them. The man tried to get their attention, but that just seemed to scare them, and they moved further away. He went into the house and came with some bread, broke it up, and made a bread crumb trail leading to the barn. They still didn't catch on. Now he was getting frustrated. He got behind them and tried to shoo them toward the barn, but they only got more scared and scattered in every direction except toward the barn. Nothing he did could get them to go into the barn where they would be warm and safe. "Why don't they follow me?!" he exclaimed. "Can't they see this is the only place where they can survive the storm?" He thought for a moment and realized that they just wouldn't follow a human. "If only I were a goose, then I could save them," he said out loud. Then he had an idea. He went into barn, got one of his own geese, and carried it in his arms as he circled around behind the flock of wild geese. He then released it. His goose flew through the flock and straight into the barn. And one by one, the other geese followed it to safety. He stood silently for a moment as the words he had spoken a few minutes earlier replayed in his mind: "If only I were a goose, then I could save them!" Then he thought about what he had said to his wife earlier. "Why would God want to be like us? That's ridiculous!" Suddenly it all made sense. That is what God had done. We were like the geese --blind, lost, perishing. God had His Son become like us so He could show us the way and save us. As the winds and blinding snow died down, his soul became quiet and pondered this wonderful thought. Suddenly he understood why Christ had come. Years of doubt and disbelief vanished with the passing storm. He fell to his knees in the snow, and prayed his first prayer: "Thank You, God, for coming in human form to get me out of the storm.

The Crucifixion

The Crucifixion

They placed the cross upon His back
Yet, no one seemed to care
The weight across His shoulders
Seemed more than He could bear.

The spikes were driven in His hands
And pounded through His feet
The ones who had convicted Him
Were cheering in the street.

The crown of thorns placed on His head
Brought blood upon His brow
The day of prophecy had come
He had to face it now.

The sins of man were laid to rest
He bore a heavy loss
The agony He must have felt
As He hung there on the cross.

The innocent blood of Jesus Christ
Was shed for all to see
The Son of God was crucified
And died for you and me.

I BELIEVE
Posted On 03/26/2007 23:46:41
I BELIEVE
I believe -
...that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe -
..that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe -
..that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you
every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe -
....that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest
distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe -
....that you can do something in an instant that will give you
heartache for life .

I believe -
...that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to
be.

I believe -
....that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe -
....that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe -
....that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe -
...that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe -
..That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences .

I believe -
...that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe -
....that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time .

I believe -
....that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe -
....that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe -
....that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe -
....that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe -
....that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief .

I believe -
...that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become

I believe -
....that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could
change your life forever.

I believe -
....two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe -
....that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe -
....that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe -
....that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe -
.... that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon .

LETTER from a person in Heaven
Posted On 03/24/2007 16:22:05
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

HOW TO FORGIVE
Posted On 03/24/2007 16:05:01
One day a while back, a man, his heart heavy with grief, was walking in the woods. As he thought about his life this day, he knew many things were not right. He thought about those who had lied about him back when he had a job. His thoughts turned to those who had stolen his things and cheated him. He remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned to the illness he had that no one could cure. His very soul was filled with anger, resentment and frustration.

Standing there this day, searching for answers he could not find, knowing all else had failed him, he knelt at the base of an old oak tree to seek the one he knew would always be there. And with tears in his eyes, he prayed: "Lord- You have done wonderful things for me in this life. You have told me to do many things for you, and I happily obeyed. Today, you have told me to forgive. I am sad, Lord, because I cannot. I don't know how. It is not fair Lord. I didn't deserve these wrongs that were done against me and I shouldn't have to forgive. As perfect as your way is Lord, this one thing I cannot do, for I don't know how to forgive. My anger is so deep Lord, I fear I may not hear you, but I pray that you teach me to do this one thing I cannot do - Teach me To Forgive."

As he knelt there in the quiet shade of that old oak tree, he felt something fall onto his shoulder. He opened his eyes. Out of the corner of one eye, he saw something red on his shirt. He could not turn to see what it was because where the oak tree had been was a large square piece of wood in the ground. He raised his head and saw two feet held to the wood with a large spike through them . He raised his head more, and tears came to his eyes as he saw Jesus hanging on a cross. He saw spikes in His hands, a gash in His side, a torn and battered body, deep thorns sunk into His head. Finally he saw the suffering and pain on His precious face. As their eyes met, the man's tears turned to sobbing, and Jesus began to speak. "Have you ever told a lie?" He asked? The man answered - "yes, Lord."

"Have you ever been given too much change and kept it?" The man answered - " yes. Lord." And the man sobbed more and more.

"Have you ever taken something from work that wasn't yours?" Jesus asked? And the man answered - "yes, Lord."

"Have you ever sworn, using my Father's name in vain? " The man, crying now, answered - "yes, Lord." As Jesus asked many more times,

"Have you ever"? The man's crying became uncontrollable, for he could only answer - "yes, Lord."

Then Jesus turned His head from one side to the other, and the man felt something fall on his other shoulder. He looked and saw that it was the blood of Jesus. When he looked back up, his eyes met those of Jesus, and there was a look of love the man had never seen or known before. Jesus said, "I didn't deserve this either, but I forgive you." It may be hard to see how you're going to get through something, but when you look back in life, you realize how true this statement is. Read the following first line slowly and let it sink in.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.
Lord I love You and I need You, come into my heart, today. For without You I can do nothing.

And remember only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,
Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

PRAY THIS, EVEN IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT!

You never know when GOD is going to bless you... Good things happen when you least expect them to!

Hosted by SparkleTags.com

Dear Lord,

I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.

Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said, or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude.

Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over, and it's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits.

I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak... Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank you that I believe. I believe that God changes people and God changes things.

I pray for all my sisters and brothers and for each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it.

God Bless! Just repeat this phrase and see how God moves:

"God I love you and I need you, come into my heart, please."

"A Must Read For Us ALL"

I have had these words for years.. written so long ago by an Indian Chief and still so meaningful even today... WHY, I feel its a must read for US ALL.. thx

Chief Seattle, Suquamish 1786 - June 7,1866 Was a great Native American Indian Chief just before the turn of the century in the Suquamish tribe Washington State area.
Original name: Noah Sealth Seattle
Burial: Saint Peter's Churchyard Suquamish, Kitsap County Washington, USA

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know you ache for and if you dare to dream of a meeting your heart's love

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of the sorrow, if you have been opened to life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear or further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own. If you can dance with wildness and let the ecstacy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning you to be careful or to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear accusation of betrayal and not your own soul.

I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy. I want to know if can see beauty even when it is not pretty everyday and if you can source your life from God's presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure yours and mine and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done for the children.

It doesn't interest me who you are and how you got here. I want to know if you'll stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studies. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

"MY SWEET BABY"

"MY SWEET BABY"

It weights heavy on my heart
With thoughts of us to part
I'm not wanting tosay goodbye
How will it be without you and I?
I look at you with tears filling in these eyes
Thinking of the years to be set to one side
Your years here have been way too short
They give rise to me to begin my cry
Knowing it's so hard to say my goodbye
My sweet sweet baby I cried for our love
to the heavens far above
I was told you may not make it through this night
Now I pray with all my might
That HE will not take you home tonight
It's so demanding continuing to cope
But I will not give up any of my hope
I am here for you day and night
To hold your hand so you don't give up the fight
My sweet baby please hear my pleas
I cried for you and I cried for me
Try to fight this so you don't have to leave

"Peter"

I never needed you so bad as I do now
Come for me before I'm too old to fly
Spring is here and the weather is warm
Each night, I sit with the window open
Sprinkle your dust on me;
give me one night of freedom to fly
Take me over Scotland on our way to Never Never Land
Let me see the sun rise there,
feeling the cool dusk breeze through my hair
Take me to your land where you don't grow old,
where we can play and feel free
Just one night or maybe two
Come take my hand
I'm waiting for you!
