Sweetie!

Is there anything else to say?

MUAH!

Love always, Annette, "That's All!"

Annette Hanshaw sings "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" (from
"Blackbirds of 1928") on Harmony 706. It was recorded on July 24, 1928.
I Can't Give You Anything but Love" is by Jimmy McHugh (music) and
Dorothy Fields (lyrics). It was introduced by Adelaide Hall at Les
Ambassadeurs Club in New York in January 1928 in Lew Leslie's Blackbird
Revue, which opened on Broadway later that year as Blackbirds of 1928.

Lyrics

I can't give you anything but love, Baby.
That's the one thing I've got plenty of, Baby.
Dream awhile, scheme a while--you're sure to find
Happiness and I guess all those things you always pine for.

Gee, it's nice to see you looking swell, Baby--
Diamond bracelets Woolworth's doesn't sell, Baby.
Till the lucky day you know darn well, Baby,
I can't give you anything but love!

Sweetie!

You never know, who will be the one...

It could be James Melton, the singer, OR it could be you! It's all good!

Move on. It is just a chapter in the past,

but don't close the book- just turn the page.

Annette Hanshaw - Get Out And Get Under The Moon 1928

1928

What do you do in the evening,
When you don't know what to do?
Read a book, play a game,
Every night it's just the same!

What do you say if I tell you
How to keep from feeling blue,
My advice is good to take,
And it's easier to do.

When you're all alone, any old night,
And you're feeling out of tune,
Pick up your hat, close up your flat,
Get out and get under the moon!

Underneath the bright, silvery light,
You'll be feeling better soon,
Pick up your hat, close up your flat,
Get out and get under the moon!

Ooh-ooh! Look at those stars above!
Look, look, look at those sweeties love,
Oh, boy, give me a night in June!

I mean that, all you gotta do, any old night,
When you're feeling out of tune,
Pick up your hat, close up your flat,
Get out and get under the moon!

When you're all alone, any old night,
And you're feeling out of tune,
Just pick up your hat, close up your flat,
Get out under the moon!

Underneath the bright, silvery light,
You'll be feeling better soon,
So pick up your hat, close up your flat,
Get out under the moon!

Take your girl for an auto ride,
Make your girl cuddle by your side,
On a beautiful night in June!
--will make her love you!

You can park your car wherever you are,
And if she won't kiss you soon,
Just tell her this: "I'm sorry, miss!"
Get out and get under the moon! "That's All!"

Clear skies are on the horizon... We must be patient...

Take my hand and we shall find the rainbow, together...

Animated film by Nina Paley. Pure Genius.
Amazing how Annete Hanshaw's songs show that the story of the Ramayana
transcends time, place and culture. Nina Paley's 2009 feature film Sita
Sings the Blues combines the ancient Indian epic Ramayan. All songs in
the film are by Annette Hanshaw!
