United We Stand

THE FINAL INSPECTION
The Marine stood and faced God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass. 'Step forward now, Marine, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?' The soldier squared his shoulders and said, 'No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod, as the Marine waited quietly, for the judgment of his God. 'Step forward now, you Marine. You've borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Hell.' It's the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the Soldier, not the poet, Who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the Soldier, not the politicians That ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag.
This is just a smallest token of recognition and Appreciation for the Military, Please pray for our men and women Who have served and are currently serving our country And pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Blessings and Prayers
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started on his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.
Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug.
The man gave him his biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?
"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!
Don't let your day go on without reading this first, no matter how busy you may be!!! The Pink Dress There was this little girl sitting by herself in the park. Everyone passed by her and never stopped to see why she looked so sad. Dressed in a worn pink dress, barefoot and dirty, the girl just sat and watched the people go by. She never tried to speak. She never said a word. Many people passed by her, but no one would stop. The next day I decided to go back to the park in curiosity to see if the little girl would still be there. Yes, she was there, right in the very spot where she was yesterday, and still with the same sad look in her eyes. Today I was to make my own move and walk over to the little girl. For as we all know, a park full of strange people is not a place for young children to play alone. As I got closer I could see the back of the little girl's dress. It was grotesquely shaped. I figured that was the reason people just passed by and made no effort to speak to her. Deformities are a low blow to our society and, heaven forbid if you make a step toward assisting someone who is different. As I got closer, the little girl lowered her eyes slightly to avoid my intent stare. As I approached her, I could see the shape of her back more clearly. She was grotesquely shaped in a humped over form. I smiled to let her know it was OK; I was there to help, to talk. I sat down beside her and opened with a simple, 'Hello.' The little girl acted shocked, and stammered a 'Hi ' after a long stare into my eyes. I smiled and she shyly smiled back. We talked until darkness fell and the park was completely empty. I asked the girl why she was so sad. The little girl looked at me with a sad face said, 'Because, I'm different.' I immediately said, 'That you are,' and smiled. The little girl acted even sadder and said, 'I know.' 'Little girl,' I said, 'you remind me of an angel, sweet and innocent.' She looked at me and smiled, then slowly she got to her feet and said, 'Really?' 'Yes, you're like a little Guardian Angel sent to watch over all the people walking by.' She nodded her head yes, and smiled With that she opened the back of her pink dress and allowed her Wings to spread, then she said 'I am.' 'I'm your Guardian Angel,' with a twinkle in her eye. I was speechless -- sure I was seeing things. She said, 'For once you thought of someone other than yourself. My job here is done'. I got to my feet and said, ' Wait, why did no one stop to help an Angel?' She looked at me, smiled, and said, 'You're the only one that could see me,' and then she was gone. And with that, my life was changed dramatically. So, when you think you're all you have, remember, your angel is always watching over you. Like the story says, we all need someone. And, every one of your friends is an Angel in their own way. The value of a friend is measured in the heart. I hope your Guardian Angel watches over you always.
When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry. The way you did today, While think of the many things, We didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, That the angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand. And said my place was ready, in heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eyes, For all my life I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for, So much left yet to do, It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving loved ones. I thought of all the yesterdays, The good one and the bad, I thought of all the love I have shared. If I could relive yesterday, Just even for a while, I'd say good-bye and kiss you all and maybe see them smile. But then I fully realized, that this could never be, For emptiness and memories, would take there place of me... So when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow I thought of my sons, and when I did my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt there must be a mistake. When God looked down and smiled at me, From his Golden throne. He said " This is eternity, and all I've promised you." Today your life on earth is past, But here life starts anew. I promised no tomorrow, But today will always last, and since each day's the same way, There's no longing for the past. You have been faithful, So trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things You knew you shouldn't do!! But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free of sin. So won't you come and take my hand?? Share my life with me. So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart for every time you think of me I'm right here, in your heart. You Are Special Did anyone ever tell you Just how special that you are The light that you emit Might even light a star. Did anyone ever tell you How important you make others feel Well, someone out here is smiling About a friendship that is real! Did anyone ever tell you How many times when they were sad Your email made them smile a bit In fact...it made them glad. Did anyone ever tell you Just how much that they love you Well, my dearest online friend Today...I'm telling you! Last night I had a dream It had a tale to tell; I dreamed I saw an angel ... Poor thing, he wasn't feeling well His body bruised and battered, His wings were ripped and torn; This angel could hardly walk, He looked so tired and worn. I walked right up to him to ask, "Angel, how can this be?" He turned around and paused a bit, Then he spoke these words to me: "I'm your Guardian Angel, A great task as you can see; You've run amok most all your life, Look what it has done to me "These bruises are from shielding you, In times both dire and ill; Those alcoholic bouts I've often paid the bill." "You see my wings are ripped and torn. How often they have flown you From evils unaware; Each mark is it's own story Of deadly wounds destroyed." "You made me wish ... more than once, That I was unemployed; If only you could make it, Standing on your own." "Oh, don't you fret or worry, But please try to remember ... I'm getting old and frail." I could not believe all I had heard, Let alone how much he cared; I wept upon his shoulder, Then left him in despair. The next day I sat and pondered, Should I really try? And in †he distance I thought I heard ... A frail old Angel cry. A Guardian Angel Flew down from above, To teach me a lesson About the powers of love. She whispered to me, Then took hold of my hand, There are so many things For you to understand. About the powers of love, And all it can do, To someone who needs To share it with you. A pat on the back, A kind smile on your face, Can make someone's life, A much brighter place. It doesn't take much, To show someone you care, To give them the love, God gave you to share. So please keep in mind, All the powers you possess, To grace someone's life, When they're in distress You've been put on this earth To bestow the powers of love, And with those final words,
A friend I will be For all eternity Please be strong and fight Stay here with me in life
The above poem is for my very special friend that is like a brother to me. You know who you are............. I love you.

One summer a long time ago, the seven sacred council fires of the Lakota Sioux came together and camped. The sun was strong and the people were starving for there was no game. Two young men went out to hunt. Along the way, the two men met a beautiful young woman dressed in white who floated as she walked. One man had bad desires for the woman and tried to touch her, but was consumed by a cloud and turned into a pile of bones. The woman spoke to the second young man and said, "Return to your people and tell them I am coming." This holy woman brought a wrapped bundle to the people. She unwrapped the bundle giving to the people a sacred pipe and teaching them how to use it to pray. "With this holy pipe, you will walk like a living prayer," she said. The holy woman told the Sioux about the value of the buffalo, the women and the children. "You are from Mother Earth," she told the women, "What you are doing is as great as the warriors do." Before she left, she told the people she would return. As she walked away, she rolled over four times, turning into a white female buffalo calf. It is said after that day the Lakota honored their pipe, and buffalo were plentiful. (from John Lame Deer's telling in 1967). Many believe that the buffalo calf, Miracle, born August 20, 1994 symbolizes the coming together of humanity into a oneness of heart, mind, and spirit.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all. One is Evil. - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.' The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?' The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.'

Spiritual Warrior Life offers us the opportunity to become a Spiritual Warrior. A warrior is one who bravely goes into those dark areas within themselves to ferret out the Truth of their being. It takes great courage, stamina and endurance to become a Spiritual Warrior. The path is narrow, the terrain rough and rocky. You will walk alone: through the dark caves, up those steep climbs and through the dense thick forest. You will meet your dark side. The faces of fear, deceit, and sadness all await your arrival. No one can take this journey but you. There comes a time, in each of our lives, when we are given the choice to follow this path. Should we decide to embark on this journey, we can never turn back.... Our lives are changed forever On this journey, there are many different places we can choose to slip into and hide. But the path goes on. The Spiritual Warrior stays the course, wounded at times, exhausted and out of energy. Many times, the Warrior will struggle back to their feet to take only a few steps before falling again. Rested, they forge on, continuing the treacherous path. The journey continues. The Spiritual Warrior stays the course. Weakened, but never broken. One day, the battle, loneliness and desperate fights are over. The sun breaks through the clouds; the birds begin to sing their sweet melodies. There is a change in the energy. A deep change within the self. The warrior has fought the courageous fight. The battle of the dark night of the soul is won. New energy now fills the Warrior. A new path is now laid before them. A gentler path filled with the inner-knowing of one who has personal empowerment. With their personal battle won, they are filled with joy. A new awareness that they are one with the Spirit beams as they go forth to show others the way. They are not permitted to walk the path for others. They can only love, guide and be a living example of the Truth of their being
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be - a roommate, a neighbor, a professor, a friend, a lover, or even a complete stranger - but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way. Sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are sometimes the most important ones. If someone loves you, give love back to them in whatever way you can, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and listen to what they have to say. Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you. You can make anything you wish of your life. Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets. And if you love someone tell them, for you never know what tomorrow may have in store. Learn a lesson in life each day that you live! Today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday. Think About it? Was it worth it? copyright ©WFB
