Happy Anniversary - My Boomer Place Back on February 14, '06 I opened this site to the world so today is a double celebration... Valentine's Day 2008 and My Boomer Place's 2nd Anniversary. Build it and they will come.. just like the movie. It was my "field of dreams." People came and people went. Today we have over 4000 members and that's pretty cool. Now it's our field of dreams. I don't have to tell you how wonderful this place is. You already know because you built it. You breathe it. You are myboomerplace.com. I salute and thank you for being a part of all this......HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BOOMERS!! And a special THANK YOU to all the people who take it upon themsleves every day to promote Gold memberships and those that became Gold members. It helps keep the doors open and the dog fed. Thank you one and all. All the best Admin
October 16, 2007: Due to a major ATT outage in our local area myboomerplace.com was off line for about 24 hours. ATT repair told us it would be back up before 10/18/2007 around 3:00 PM EDT. But it looks like they beat their deadline. I'm happy and I hope you are too. Have a great week. Sorry for any incovenience we may have caused you. Admin (poppatom)
Good Morning Boomers! Not long ago, a member asked if he could have an additional profile and link it to his current profile because he had so much stuff on his page and it took so long to load, people would get frustrated and leave. And he was right! I went to his page and sure enough his page took so long to load I could have went to lunch and come back before it got done loading. Boy did he have some stuff on there! So I made a suggestion based on the old axiom \"less is more\". I told him to take half the stuff off his page and then begin to rotate it, adding new stuff every now and then and replacing the old stuff with the new. Now his page loads faster and visitors come more often to see what he\'s added because they know he\'s \"keepin\' it fresh\". He wrote back to me to tell me how much better his page was. It loaded faster and people come back more often to see how his profile has changed and what he had added recently. Have a great September weekend. And please click an ad or two. It lets Google know that we are a viable vibrant community. All the best, Admin
A Message from Admin - Please Read First let me thank all of the people who took it upon themsleves to start promoting Gold memberships and those that became Gold members. Thank you one and all. Now let me tell you what's going on. Back in February '06 I opened this site to the world. Build it and they will come.. just like the movie. It was my "field of dreams." People came and people went. Most stayed. Somehow, we ended up with over 3400 members. There were predator attacks from Nigeria, cat fights in the Shoubox, people posting nude pictures of themselves on their profile pages . We all lived through it and grew. And here we are today. It's a fantastic place. People for the most part love it. But ooops! There is no revenue. But that's Ok, because it's FREE! The truth of the matter is, it is becoming increasingly harder to finance this site with no revenue. Gold member subscriptions have helped but with only 32 Gold members, it is far from enough. There is no ad revenue. Which by the way is a myth unless you have millions of people on your site. So I have a decison to make: shut down or try to get at least 600 paying (Gold) members to keep the doors open, then convert to subscription membership if that goal is reached, all the while keeping Free memberships open that have limited access to some features. There are over 3400 members on this site so if 20% really like this site and what it represents, we can stay open. Current Free members with "hardship cases" who truly can't pay will be given a Gold membership for enternity (if we're still here). Just send me a message and I'll understand. I'm already aware of some people who just can't pay because they just don't have it, but are active members of the community and I don't want to lose them. I don't have to tell you how wonderful this place is. You already know because you built it. You breathe it. You are myboomerplace.com. Sure there's plenty of FREE sites out there but they have no depth or character. I think this place is truly "unique" (and I hate that word but in this case it fits) because it has become a living thing that goes much deeper than any myspace or Eons. They are all "eyeball farms" to sell advertising but here it's much different. People didn't sign up on My Boomer Place because it was Free, they apparently found something else. There is a "depth" here that all those other places lack. People actually care about each other and support and encourage each other on our site. It's truly amazing. Really. And they love to have fun. The true genius of Rita and her virtual cruise. That really is innovative. And it could only happen here. Everything in life has a value. Some is overt and some is intrinsic. My Boomer Place is, quite simply, priceless. $2.99 a month is a small price to pay to help maintain to a community such as this. No annoying ads. Predator free. And great friendly people. Discovering new things. It's 10 cents a day. Is that too much to ask?? This is probably the last messge you'll get from me unless it's on a one to one basis. My door is always open. Just drop me a line sometime with your thoughts and questions. I'm not Jimmy Swaggart ...and Jesus isn't calling me home if I don't get 600 paying gold members by August 30th ..but the guys from the Poor House have already sent me more than a few invitations. Please step up and join the Gold Members who already support our site. Thank you for your time and being part of My Boomer Place. All the best Admin .
Please take afew moments to visit our new online store. More images will be added as we go and we will still have our own on site store featuring unique items like books by our authors and CDs by our musicians and unique craft items by our crafters. src="/images/apparel.jpg" Thanks for all your help and support, Admin
I recently posted this on some other sites outside of here hoping to get some new members. Where Everybody Knows Your Name It used to be Cheers, the TV show about that Boston bar where a cross section of the city hung out and got themselves in and out of all kinds of quirky situations was one of my favorite stops along the media hwy. Cheers has been gone a long time now but is still alive somewhere out there in syndication suburbia. After discovering myspace through my children and being annoyed and inundated with ads popping up and blinking while I was looking for people my own age (I'm 66), I decided I'd had enough then decided to do something about it. So started my own site called myboomerplace.com where people over 40 could hang out and be themselves. An internet Cheers so to speak but without all the crap. And we have such an interesting cross section of people and bustling Groups like Jukebox George's Music box with over 500 music videos of vintage artists from 50's 60's & 70's. Grandmothers have posted pictures of their grandkids in our Gallery along with photos from their most recent vacation. There are several authors with published works who have discovered their hidden talent and are prospering from their new found mission in life. Our Memorials Group is reserved for honoring the lives of those who have passed on. It started with one member (me) and has grown to over 3500. I know that doesn't sound like a lot of people but you'd have a hard time fitting all of them into own living room at one time. I don't thnk Rupert Mudoch is going to be calling me anytime soon especially since I don't like advertising that much. But I love my growing family there. They're just real people with real lives. Although there many things in my life that I'm proud of seeing that website grow is what I'm most proud of...currently Tom Conner Some old guy from Howell Michigan

All the best to you and your families and friends, Admin
Regarding the promo codes referred to in my last bulletin: It appears that the codes don't appear in the bulletin the way they should unless you click on the Quote button. So please go to: GroupsComputers & InternetMy Boomer Place Promo Codes and there you will find the code to paste into your Myspace Profiles etc. Actually someone pointed out you can put it anywhere where they allow you to post HTML. Thanks again to the best "street team" on the planet. Admin
