This just makes me very angry
Posted On: 12/05/2006 18:18:22
Today at school, we caught a teacher stealing food from the lunchline. She came through, got a sandwich, some vegitables, and a milk, stuffed them in her pocket, and slipped out. The cashier reported it to the Head Cook, as we are supposed to do. Here's the thing-this is not the first time. I caught her more than once stealing a container of yougurt. I reported this to the Head Cook, like I was supposed to. Today was the first time the Head Cook reported it to the Principal. She even told him this was not the first time, but she said nothing in the past.

What angers me most is, in the first place, if I had seen the theft and not said anything to the Head Cook, I would have gotten in a lot of trouble. She would have basically ripped me a new one for not saying anything. Yet, as a person in a responsible position, she did nothing. In the second place, perhaps this teacher is broke. But these kids are taught that this is never an excuse. She is setting a bad example for these kids.

I guess right now I'm just venting. People wonder why kids are like they are. In some cases, they are being presented with some poor examples.

Stealing is stealing I dot'n care who it is. on the other hand the first time it was reported to the head cook it should had being adress to her no to steal if she can't paid for it then ask if you can take it. I belive food is for the hungry but only if you ask for it no steal it.

hey, we are all human, consider this.........the teacher may be hungry but thats no excuse for stealing but there are exceptions to this (not in this case) but for example.......I do not know a mother anywhere that wouldnt steal to feed their hungry child, regardless of what message it sends to others. granted thats not the case here but what I am saying is that there are reasons that we sometimes do things that we otherwise wouldnt do........regardless of the theft itself, the Head Cook was at fault in not reporting it the first time, had Lorie not reported it she would have been in trouble for it so the Head Cook dropped the ball on this situation.

You're right, the teacher may be hungry and broke but this isn't any excuse for what she's doing. If she's, in fact, in that kind of situation I 'm certain the school would make allowances. But to actually "steal" is another matter. And, like Papa and I were discussing, the teacher can clearly get away with this kind of conduct but if it should be a student, God forbid, did the same thing he'd be in a world of trouble! I'm certain, at least, one student has seen what she's doing. Another point you brought out is you're SUPPOSED to report this. She can get away with stealing but if you don't report it you can lose your job! Oh, the double standards we have to live with!! We expect our teachers to set a GOOD EXAMPLE for our children and now we CAN see why there are problems.
