Life as a 50 year old college student
Posted On: 09/13/2007 09:37:52
As some of you know, I made the decision to enroll in community college with my goal of getting a degree in Culinary Arts. It's been 32 years since I graduated high school, so this was a very big decision for me. And a scary one.

I had originally wanted to attend full time, but instead, on the advice of an academic adviser, decided to take just one class this quarter. It was good advice. Portfolio Development is a rather intense class, but one that, so far, I am enjoying. It's making me think about my goals and what I want to do with this degree once I obtain it (and obtain it I will, come Hell or High Water). For the first time in a long time, I'm pumped about what my future will hold.

Yes I will agree with Svetlana that it will be the best thing for you to do. I have a granson that is the Culinary Arts program. And now he travels to different resorts and works while getting on hands experence. He is doing very well for himself in this trade. Plus he now gets to travel to different areas of the country. He is now back out west working where he was a year ago. They contacted him and wanted him back with pay incentives. Good for the young to see differnt areas and learn at the same time.
