Well, I was not born in the USA, but I love that song and I love my new country. New is really the understatement of the year because I came to this country from Germany in 1965 and have been an American Citizen since the 70s. I married a GI during the Vietnam war and I became a fullfledged American when my only son served his country, my country, during the Golf War. God brought him back home to me and when he wanted to join again after 9/11, he could not because of his health at that time. His wife told me, this was the only time she was happy that he was not in the best of health. Wow.
This is just a little bit about me. I have 2 children, Heidie 40, Bennie 37 this year, 5 grand children. Kevin is 23 and lived with me since he was 10 month old. Heidie and her husband got a divorce then and neither one was mature enough to be a parent. So God gave him to me. I was going through a bad time with my ex husband, so Kevin needed me as much as I needed him. It worked out fine for both of us. He moved back in with us last fall to help paying the mortgage.
I also inheredid Bruce, 18, last year christmas. He did not get along with his stepfather so he came to live with us. I work among other jobs with GED students, so he had to go to work with me to catch up on his studies. Tuesday he is taking his GED test.
I also have a great grand son. He is just 3 1/2 month old. He is soooo cute. Of course.
I am also lucky enough to have both parents still living. They are in Germany and doing agewise really well. Some day I might have to move back and take care of them--the are both in their 80s--because I am an only child.
2 kids, 5 grandkids, 1 greatgrandkid, pretty good for this only child.
