What is it that attract us to the paranormal? Is it finding the scientific proof that would change the facts as well as peoples thinking? My answer is no, it would be great to stumble onto something that would allow us to have actual facts. I think that when this happens it won't be some big University, or government funded group won't be the ones to find it but they will surely take the credit. A long time ago a man said " Hell, there are no rules hereā"we're trying to accomplish something" That was Thomas Edison, who is thought of to be the inventor of the light bulb. In 1809 a fellow named Humphry Davy invented it, it was 1879 when Thomas Edison invented the first practical light bulb. Through out the 70 years there were many bulbs invented by others, but it was Edison who we all learned about. I liked his quote "If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward." Keep that in mind when you are feeling like this might be a lost cause. My point here is that even if you do discover the truth, most likely you won't be the one who is written in the history books! I started investigating in 1970, things have changed since then, but mostly in people's attitudes with those things that go bump in the night (or day). I think that the one most asked question in all those years has been. Why can't I find anything? My first response would be to stop looking with your eyes, and use you vision, stop listening with you ears and use your hearing, or stop waiting for something to slap you in the butt, and use your sensory feelings. Even scents would not be smelled through your nose, but the memory of a scent. It has been a myriad of things that have us looking for something paranormal in what usually turns out to be the wrong places. Urban legends, Ghost stories, books that were written that (although a novel) we can see some familiar about the haunted site we are looking into. Try to remember that most of these are someone's imagination. If we use the techniques that have been used before as a base to start with, then we can develop your own ways to do it. Remember that Thomas Edison tried over 3000 times before her was successful. Keep good records so you don't trip over the same paths. The one time we might use investigation techniques that haven't produced results, would be at a different site. To explain that thinking, if you are at the battlefields, where massive carnage occurred, you might not find the same type of energies as you would in a home. The energies here might be where someone was murdered in their sleep, died of disease, or is simply there to tell something that was very important to them. At a battlefield you might find more confused, or scared energies, roaming around. Of course there are many other possibilities, so what didn't work for one, might work for the other. Why do we do this? I do it because I love it, I love the urban legends, the stories, the books, and movies. I also hope that we might find the proof everyone needs, to finally accept this as fact. For me it isn't for the fame, it is for all of us to know that there is life after death and this is truly only a chapter in your life. Too many people are in this for the profit, if you truly love the paranormal don't make a living off it. Make a living doing something else, and keep this as a passion. I can go as far as to believe that most psychic's, or mediums are receiving messages. It is doubtful that they get messages from all energies, and can do it between thee commercial breaks on TV. I'm sure that time has no meaning there, so how would you commit this energy to a half hour session, or the 11 minutes between station breaks? I never treat anyone who is investigating like they are doing it wrong. Who are we to say our's is the right way, and their's is wrong? What if science has to move forward a few steps before having the technology to discover? Go in trying to find the logical reason something is happening, and keep an open mind, listen to everything and everyone. You disseminate the info, but keep in mind that science might not have a answer just yet, to something that we are sure is paranormal. The other side of that fence, is don't discount everything we can talk ourselves out of anything. Two more steps might just be all you need to find the answers, so never give up! Steve
