Mia's story

Mia’s Story

When I met Mia yesterday it was love at first sight for both of us.  I stood at the front of her cage with the door open petting her.  After a few seconds of being petted she got up, came up to me put her paws on my belly. She  reached her paw up to my chin as if to say,  Please take me home! I'll be a good girl.

Mia is an 11 year-old cat that has been living in the kennel at my veterinarian's office since April.  She was given up by her owners simply because she was too old, traded in for a newer  model!

Her story is sad comment on how some people view their animals as disposable.  Her previous owner scheduled an appointment with my vet to Euthanise Mia and her sister.  When she brought them in to the office she stated that the cats were too old.  She wanted her 2 year old child to grow up with a kitten.  Imagine that, teaching a child that family members are not worthy of love and devotion when they get old!

The vetrinarian refused to Euthanise the healthy senior sisters.   The loser woman  signed over ownership to the vet so that he could find homes for them.

Mia's sister was adopted awhile ago.  Mia will be coming home with me on thursday!

The Cover Up
Posted On 11/14/2007 21:19:19
Today as I walked across my hallway, I noticed the litter scooper lying in front of the litter box. I thought that was odd since I always put it between the litter box and the wall. When I picked it up to put it back in it's spot, I noticed that it had been covering a "dingleberry"(a tiny turd that gets caught on the cat's ass) that had fallen onto the floor. So apparently the cat covered the "dingleberry" with the nearest moveable item which was the scooper.

In the past the cat has taken small clothing items from the laundry basket, or shame on me, socks from the floor to cover dinner dishes that didn't make it back to the kitchen. He also covers his hairballs!
