How many Zero's in a Billion
Posted On 09/13/2008 13:43:34

I got this in an email yesterday. It isn't the first time I have read it but this time around I decided to put it into a blog.

I don't know who first wrote it:

How many zeros in a billion?

I have sent this before, but it is well worth taking another look at it, before you decide who th elect or re-elect to any government office.  We have to make them responsible.

PS  Both of the letters I sent out to my Senators, were answered with the typical BS, and neither gave a answer on the questions I asked.  My congressman always takes one or two months to answer anything,  he only uses Snail Mail, doesn't believe in e-mail.

How many zeros in a billion?

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the

word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about

whether you want the 'politicians' spending

YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of

putting that figure into some perspective in

one of it's releases.

A.

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D.

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.

A billion dollars ago was only

8 hours and 20 minutes,

at the rate our government

is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...

let's take a look at New Orleans .

It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,

Mary Landrieu (D)

was asking Congress for

250  BILLION DOLLARS

to rebuild New Orleans .  Interesting number...

what does it mean?

A.

Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of   New Orleans

(every man, woman, and child)

you each get $516,528.

B.

Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets
 $1,329,787.

C.

Or... if you are a family of four...

 your family gets  $2,066,012.

Washington, D.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago...
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt...

We had the largest middle class in the world...

and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened?

Can you spell 'politicians!'

And I still have to

for English.

I hope this goes around

Who Killed the Electric Car
Posted On 08/27/2008 10:03:49

Who Killed the Electric Car

Is a movie that is out. Stan and I watched it last weekend.

In today’s world where gas prices are on a some what steady rise we all need to start thinking about using alternative fuels and one of those was, and I say was, because the car is no longer in production and hasn't been for a few years, the EV1 car which was all

ELECTRIC!!!

Admittedly it didn't get very far on a charge, just 60 miles but someone had already started working on extending the life of the batteries that ran the car.

GM made the car. It was released in California and Arizona as a leased car only in 1996.

It went over very well, even getting some local actors leasing them and falling in love with them. It seems they were a very comfortable easy car to take care of, just plug it into an outlet and charge it up. The batteries of course went with you and you could charge it let's say at a friends house for extended traveling.

There were around 8000 of them made. So what happened to them?

Gm removed them from being leased. They not only removed them they scraped them into tiny bits of metal, well all but a few that were deactivated and now sit in moth ball heaven.

Here was a car that could get you back and forth to work if your job was close enough, a car that didn't dirty the air, that was liked, no lets say loved by all that drove it, and one we could certainly use today.

There are many theories on why GM removed it, but I am not here to tell you why I think they did that. I am here to try and let people know what happened. To get you all to rent the movie and to check everything out on the internet, and maybe if enough people know about it, we could put pressure on the automobile companies to re issue it.

So if you get the chance and want to learn all the facts about the car then please rent it.

WalMart movie
Posted On 08/22/2008 01:33:08

I bet the majority of you shop at WalMart for their cheap items but have any of you ever wondered why they are so cheap?
Do You know how badly they treat their employees especially women? Are you aware that they ask their employees to file for Medicaid so WalMart won't have to pay them medical insurance and do you know that most employees can not afford to get medical insurance through WalMart?
Are you aware that Walmart does not pay overtime but yet requires their workers to work beyond their normal hours?
Do you know that they deliberately understaff their stores so those same employees Have to work over time for no extra pay?

I watch a movie that told that and oh so much more last weekend. It is called:
The Wal Mart Story,
The High Cost of Low Prices.

I have never liked WalMart. I don't go there unless I have no choice. In fact I will go out of my way and too every other store in our small town before venturing inside that building.

Please rent the movie. We got it from Netflex, it is worth every penny and then some.

Are you aware that you can stop a WalMart from being built in your town, Hundreds of towns have already done that.

New Cars coming to US. Air Run
Posted On 07/19/2008 13:38:48

The Air Car caused a huge stir when we reported last year that Tata Motors would begin producing it in India. Now the little gas-free ride that could is headed Stateside in a big-time way.

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Air_Powered_Cars_to_Hit_US_by_2010';

Zero Pollution Motors (ZPM) confirmed to PopularMechanics.com on Thursday that it expects to produce the world’s first air-powered car for the United States by late 2009 or early 2010. As the U.S. licensee for Luxembourg-based MDI, which developed the Air Car as a compression-based alternative to the internal combustion engine, ZPM has attained rights to build the first of several modular plants, which are likely to begin manufacturing in the Northeast and grow for regional production around the country, at a clip of up to 10,000 Air Cars per year.

And while ZPM is also licensed to build MDI’s two-seater OneCAT economy model (the one headed for India) and three-seat MiniCAT (like a SmartForTwo without the gas), the New Paltz, N.Y., startup is aiming bigger: Company officials want to make the first air-powered car to hit U.S. roads a $17,800, 75-hp equivalent, six-seat modified version of MDI’s CityCAT (pictured above) that, thanks to an even more radical engine, is said to travel as far as 1000 miles at up to 96 mph with each tiny fill-up.

We’ll believe that when we drive it, but MDI’s new dual-energy engine—currently being installed in models at MDI facilities overseas—is still pretty damn cool in concept. After using compressed air fed from the same Airbus-built tanks in earlier models to run its pistons, the next-gen Air Car has a supplemental energy source to kick in north of 35 mph, ZPM says. A custom heating chamber heats the air in a process officials refused to elaborate upon, though they insisted it would increase volume and thus the car’s range and speed.

“I want to stress that these are estimates, and that we’ll know soon more precisely from our engineers,” ZPM spokesman Kevin Haydon told PM, “but a vehicle with one tank of air and, say, 8 gal. of either conventional petrol, ethanol or biofuel could hit between 800 and 1000 miles.”

Those figures would make the Air Car, along with Aptera’s Typ-1 and Tesla’s Roadster, a favorite among early entrants for the Automotive X Prize, for which MDI and ZPM have already signed up. But with the family-size, four-door CityCAT undergoing standard safety tests in Europe, then side-impact tests once it arrives in the States, could it be the first 100-mpg, nonelectric car you can actually buy?

In the end it will work out but for now it is again something I don't need to handle and deal with and something that needs to be done today, tomorrow at the latest.

I am pulling my hair out!!!! not really. Just sounding off.
