I have very eclectic music tastes in music! I like most genres, Rock, classical, folk, R&B, Jazz, Oldies, Bluegrass, Celtic and even easy listening! I also enjoy musicals, concerts, and love, love, love soundtracks made for movies. Cello, Violin and Classical guitar are my favorite instruments.
BOOKS
I read everything except for romance novels, and I do mean everything! I love to read book series because the story never seems to end. I also enjoy reading the classics like Shakespeare, The Scarlet Letter, etc.
Ann Rice is my all time favorite author. I've read most everything she has written. As a history professor, she blends historical and literary imagery and story lines. She has written several series that all tie in together. She's awesome!
I collect books, and have for years. They span all genres. I enjoy the classics as much as crime novels. I read poetry and philosophy as well. I'm always wanting to learn new things and look into the past to find lost treasures. Reading and collecting books is one of my favorite pastimes.
MOVIES
I like all genres of movies, but DRAMA is probably my favorite. It's nice to be transported to another era or place. I love to lose myself in movies. Action films are fabulous as well. Some of my favorites are Rob Roy, Braveheart,& movies like Seven & Copycat. Crime shows are awesome!
I love movies that make an impact about social & cultural issues that we may have a preset opinion about. The Color Purple, Shindler's List, Mississippi Burning and to Kill a Mockingbird are just a few. Movies like the Joy Luck Club depict ancient histories/views against modern day; which I find so very interesting.
I really enjoy good Horror Classics like The Shining, Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman. Some of the newer ones are way too graphic. A little bit of graphic pictures are okay, like The Exorcist, but movies like Saw are just a bit too much for me.
Who doesn't love a good love story? Love stories touch our hearts and helps us to believe in happily ever afters! Some of my favorites are Love Story, The Notebook, and Gone With the Wind.
I'm ready to get the popcorn!!
br
Let's not forget comedy! I love most comedies, but I guess I get the biggest kick out of those old movies like The 3 Stooges. Other old comedy shows I enjoy/enjoyed are Lewis & Martin,Laurel & Hardy, Red Skelton. There are alot of newer movies that are wonderful as well. The best part of a comedy is sharing them with another.
Movies about the life of Christ are good for my soul. Although they humble me, I am reminded that Jesus Christ had a heavy cross to bear & I should carry mine as well. HE never complained. He gave his life self sacrificing & died for our sins. It is the center of my faith, the promise of everlasting life through Him.
I also enjoy watching documentaries about biblical times, archeology, and lost scrolls. It gives a better understanding of biblical lands and customs.
TV SHOWS: CRIME DRAMAS
Criminal Minds is my favorite TV show, bar none! We have a timer set so that we don't miss it. Every week is another crime to be solved and I love the psychological way that the team determines what the unsub would be like. Profiling is amazing. I can remember when Profiling was new to crime scenes and now watch it in action, in my favorite TV show, Criminal Minds.
CSI is another show I don't like to miss. The character interaction in this show is fun to watchas well as the crime scene investigating. I like to try and solve the crime too. LOL
HOBBIES
I have several hobbies that I enjoy. I've already covered books and collecting. I've discussed photography up in my About me section. I guess my favorite hobby is cooking, cooking shows, cooking sites and cookbooks. I was an Italian Chef for about six years until my husband (my ex) decided that he couldn't stand for me to work nights. I did not go to cooking school. I learned everything I knew on the job working with an old chef from Sicily. I still love to prepare Italian dinners.
I am a great fan of The Food Network. I like most all of their shows, but my favorites are The Next Iron Chef and the Next Food Network Star.
I belong to quite a few cooking clubs online like Pilsbury, Jif, Just a Pinch, Allrecipes, and Betty Crocker. Also, The Food Network online, which has the chef's recipes. I love it!
I've collected cookbooks for years. Last year, I gave most of them to my daughter..since I lived alone. I had no idea that I'd meet Ken!! lol But that's okay. I have my online clubs and I take my laptop right into the kitchen. Ken always says "you got your cookbook with you?" lol
I've been writing in one form or another since I was a child. It's always been a passion of mine. For the past 6 years I've written quite a lot on Myspace. I had built a writing community there called Legacy Writers of Harmony Pub, which came here but went back to Myspace. I did not follow. Here is one of my poems..

MY BUCKET LIST
I met the love of my life, Ken, right here on boomer! We had both pretty much given up on love and relationships, but clicked immediately. Neither of us could deny that we were meant to be together. I moved to Oklahoma in June & we have lived happily together since.

For the first time in my entire life, I have a happy and wholesome relationship with a man. He is my world and I'll love him forever. My bucket list is definitely full.
I was born in Alton, IL in 1958. I lived in the same house until I was 16, when I got married. I've been travelling ever since. I've lived in 6 states and have visited all but the NE states in America. I'm happy to have finally settled in.
I have three Children, all grown. Monica is 35, Crystal is 34 and Joshua is 28. I also have four grand children. Jacob is 16, Mathew is 13, Abby is 11, and Anna is 9. I'm very proud of them all, but never post pictures of myself or my children. You just never know what kind of weirdos are out there!
I met the love of my life right here on Boomer; now living in Oklahoma and doing some porch sittin' with Heaven's Back Porch (Ken). It is like we have known each other forever. I am so thankful to have met such a wonderful man. I'm looking forward to many years together.
I enjoy talking with friends on Boomer's Flash chat. I sure have met many a lot of nice folks there. We talk about all kinds of things there! I wonder if everyone at Boomer knows about Flashchat? I hope to see you there!
I'm disabled but loving life these days. Life is wonderful when shared with someone to love.
Cool days and gentle winds.
Rain on a hot day.
When my love whispers in my ear.
White flowers & clothing.
I also enjoy Photography. I love taking pictures and love viewing good photos! I'm an avid fan of art galleries as well. I'm always looking for art and photography sites online. National Geographic is one of my daily stop offs as I make my rounds on the Internet.
TURN OFF'S
Crude language, dirty fingernails, bigotry, slobs and drunks.
For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt?
We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt'!
Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way.
Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, who married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout.
After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced.
Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock.
Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.
The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse..
Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world.
He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.
Now when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt', you can correct them.
