Taking Care of Business
Taking Care of Business in a Flash!
I trained from 1970-1974 under Master Kang Rhee in Memphis, TN. Master Rhee had a good reputation and had come highly recommended by Ed Parker, my former instructor, at California.
During the four year period under Master Rhee, I, like all the other students, selected an animal title by which to be addressed in the training area. After first choosing Mr. Panther, that name was later changed to "Mr. Tiger" because of existing political implications associated with the name "Panther" at that time.
I trained with the other students in a regular training session. Classroom discipline was so strict that I was allowed the same freedom of training as the ordinary students without the usual press from adoring fans.
I was awarded 7th Degree Black Belt in 1973 by Master Rhee and on occasion had the opportunity, himself, to test and promote students of lower rank.
Elvis received 14 Grammy nominations from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). His three wins were for gospel recordings - the album How Great Thou Art (1967), the album He Touched Me (1972) and his live Memphis concert recording of the song How Great Thou Art (1974). In 1971, NARAS also recognized him with their Lifetime Achievement Award (known then as the Bing Crosby Award in honor of its first recipient). Elvis was 36 years old at the time. Five of Elvis' recordings have been inducted into the NARAS Hall of Fame - his original 1956 recordings of Hound Dog (inducted 1988) and Heartbreak Hotel (inducted 1995), his original 1954 recording of That's All Right (inducted 1998), his original 1969 recording of Suspicious Minds (inducted 1999), and his original 1956 recording of Don't Be Cruel (inducted 2002). The Hall of Fame recognizes "early recordings of lasting, qualitative or historical significance, "with many inductees being recordings that were created and released before the 1958 inception of NARAS and the Grammy Awards.

I'm a Singer and Actor.
I was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee, with my parents in 1948.
My singing career began with my first Sun Records single, "That's All Right," in 1954. My natural magnetism , plus unique blending of pop, country, gospel and R&B, I became the leading force of the "rock 'n' roll revolution." In 1956, I signed with RCA and received my first Gold Record for "Heartbreak Hotel," soon after its release. I became an international superstar. As time went on, I became a pop culture icon and legend.
I starred in 31 films, including "Jailhouse Rock," "King Creole," "Blue Hawaii" and "Viva Las Vegas." I appeared on television on "The Milton Berle Show" and "The Ed Sullivan Show," as well as three television specials, including "Elvis" (a.k.a. "The '68 Comeback"). I received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award at age 36. Posthumously, I was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll, Country and Gospel halls of fame, the only artist thus far to be a member of all three. To date, 150 of my albums and singles have earned gold, platinum or multi-platinum awards and I have sold over one billion records worldwide.
I died on August 16, 1977 at my Memphis home, Graceland, where each year over 600,000 people come to visit.
