As a person wins in each category they move up in the next contest. If you read the contest page it may make more sense.

Thank you very much, ladies; you were both very helpful. There are two things I still don't understand:  what do the different categories mean?  and why do we get more than one vote in each category?

Hi Marnie,

As Memphis posted below go to the Design Contest and make sure you send a private message. The instructions on how to vote are posted there. You have 3 votes in each category which makes 9 votes total. I hope we've helped if not please add to this thread.
