Look up! You’ll have the opportunity to see five planets aligned in the dawn sky through mid-February.

Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter will be visible at the same time in the southern sky this month! The best time to view these planets is 45 minutes before sunrise, around 6:30 AM. Your best chance to see all five planets will be during the first week of February. As the month goes on, Mercury will slowly slide below the horizon, but the other four planets will still be visible.

The last time an event like this occurred was in 2005. The good news is, it will happen again in the near future, but only for a few days! From August 13-19, 2016, these five planets will be visible in the evening sky, but Mercury and Venus will be more difficult to see.

Bottom line - make sure you take a few seconds on your way to work to look up at the sky this week!
