On the same day the Geneva peace talks are resuming. Putin is telling Assad it is time for proposing sharing power democratically or hold free and fair elections so the United States and Israel can rig the election as "observers".
Rock and a hard place. The USA already knows what the Sunnis are all about. Putin is trying to play the USA, Iran, Israel and Saudi Arabia off against each other.
Things are about to spread pain and suffering because of the stabilizing effect Russia had, not make things peaceful.
