Sweetie!

Have you seen me singing on the Maxwell House Showboat on NBC?

I love our friendship!

MUAH!

Love always, Annette, "That's All!"

From "Captain Henry's Showboat" (1933) with Annette Hanshaw
singing "We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye". This is Annette's only
appearance on film.

We thought that love was over
That we were really through
I said I didn't love him
That we'd begin anew
And you can all believe me
We sure intended to
But we just couldn't say good-bye
The chair and then the sofa
Broke right down and cry
The curtains started waving for him to come inside
I tell you confidentially
The tears were hard to hide
And we just couldn't say good-bye
The clock was striking 12 o' clock
It smiled on us below
With folded hands it seemed to say
We'll miss you if you go
So he came back and kissed me
And when I looked around
The room was singing love songs
And dancing up and down
Now we are both so happy
Because at last we found
That we just couldn't say good-bye
People in love are funny
Mighty hard to explain
One minute they quarrel
Then theyr'e back together again
Take my case for instance
We had a little fuss
Listen ladies and gentleman
Here's what happened to us
And you can all believe me
That we sure intended to
The chair and then the sofa
Broke right down and cried
I tell you confidentially
The tears were hard to hide
The clock was striking 12 o' clock
It smiled on us down below
With folded hands it seemed to say
We're going to miss you if you go
So he came back and kissed me
And when I looked around
The room was singing love songs
And dancing up and down
Now we're both so happy
Because at last we found
That we just couldn't say good-bye!

"Knock" Knock," Sweetie!

"Won't you join us?"

"We were just doing some stretching, and we thought you were here to collect the rent!"

"Sit yourself down, and rest your hands and feet!"

MUAH!

Love always, Annette, "That's All!"

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY SWEETIE!

MUAH!

LOVE ALWAYS, ANNETTE, "THAT'S ALL!"

Annette Hanshaw sings "Ain't Cha", recorded in New York on November 27,
1929, released on Paramount Publix SR1069P in select movie theaters
only!. Annette is in her role as "girl big band singer" accompanied by
Ben Selvin and His Orchestra probably consisting of Red Nichols t,
Glenn Miller tb, Jimmy Dorsey cl, Jack Hansen bb, George Beebe d, Irving
Brodsky p, Tommy Felline bj, PeeWee Russell cl, and Fud Livingston as,
with Ben Selvin dir. The music was composed by Mack Gordon and Max
Rich. Ain't Cha was featured in the Paramount film Pointed Heels sung
by Helen Kane (Betty Boop) and the Paramount Publix label editions were
sold only in theaters at the time the film was being exhibited. There
were usually only 300 pressings of a Publix label so that they could be
considered collector's items. Helen Kane's version of the song could
not be sold by Paramount Publix because Kane was under contract to
Victor Talking Machine, but Kane did release her own version of Ain't
Cha on Victor on October 29, 1929. Hanshaw was under contract to
Columbia, so Hanshaw was
able to make the recording for sale in theaters.
