Leap day has been associated with female empowerment. According to ancient lore, in 5th-century Ireland, Saint Brigid, one of the country's female patron saints, was upset women could not propose to men. To placate her, the famed Saint Patrick designated February 29th as the only day women could ask men for their hand in marriage. Because of this legend, leap day, in some places, became known as Bachelor's Day……So come on ladies, I’m available.
