I’m not much
My home is in her heart and when I’m lost she calls me with the sweetest melody No one else’s heart could ever contain me as she lifts me from a world of insanity And I’ve seen the world in her eyes as she smiled and held me in her loving arms No other can ever come first in my mind as we walk through turmoil to the calm
All though I’ve been blinded and foolish in my insanity letting my angel fly free Lifted by the grace of god freed from my blindness and taught to know humility I now testify to the brightness of her grace that my divine divinity has shown to me Upon my bended knees I beg for the light of mercy because she’s the only one I see
When you really love someone there’s no giving up if you really love her that much When your heart hurts so severely and all it can do is pray for her forgiving touch I have nothing without her, no feeling without her love and I scream to the heavens lord you know without her I’m not much

The Long Road To Me
I hear it calling for me softly in the distance I hear it calling my name softly in the wind I heed the call not showing much resistance The caller and I are very much akin
The long road beckons me deep from my core Shackles of the mind chain me down no more When I find the intensity to carryon and endure Sorting my mind of people I do and don't adore
One spin of the Zippo wheel and the sparks fly I inhale and exhale as I grab my things on the sly Judging the weather as I cast my eye to the sky I look at my watch while slowly releasing a sigh
As I toss the used glowing ember into the air I look towards the world and what's out there So much holding me back but I just don't care I'll cross the world with the wind in my hair
Another step is all I can muster at this minute Gravel crushing beneath my feet as I walk in it The worldly journey comes alive as I begin it My spirit and direction are so closely knit
The stars are my roof and soft grass at my feet The road splits into highways and backstreets Far too much to see from the window seat There's no clear win, but still no defeat

Why She Loves The Rain
Why she loved the rain she could never explain I’d find her standing in it time and time again With each drop that fell Came a distinct scent and smell With each minute the rain washed away the pain Away in waves, away down the drain
Her spirit would rise when the clouds filled the skies How the rain made her smile, and brightened her eyes Whatever her troubles, whatever her dismay, it took away It fell in torrents it fell in drops and drizzle It fell on winter ice and summers heat and sizzled
I thought I would never find or ever know Until one day I turned to see the rainbow Now through the storm she stands her ground Because at the end inner peace can be found You’ll see her standing in the rain, that’s what she does And if by chance you ask her, she’ll say
Just because

What was I thinking
With the fuse lit I ran in slow motion without any notion of how to get away, My feet and my brain looked back amazed not knowing my heart decided to stay. A can of worms he said as I tread upon the grass that wasn't intended for me, Sad music playing out of the radio each note and word tells of my destiny.
Strange images of colors surround and change like nothing I have ever seen, I painted myself into a corner with the sweat of my brow and a gallon of gasoline. Why nail myself up upon the cross and live again with the pain stress and strain, Why sail my ship of fools down a long track to come to heads with an oncoming train.
What was I thinking I said to me as the sun sank into my horizon right in front of me, Now the taste of freedom has lost its flavor not as seasoned like id like it truly to be.

 Checkmate
My life is in checkmate and there's no way to win I've tried every move, now it's time to give in I'll lay down my sword and let the capture commence To try to keep up the fighting makes little sense Look at me I'm the king never to be a pawn Every move I retrace to see what went wrong My castles are in ruins and my knights are all down My queen has been taken and there's no hope around Everything is black and white as I survey the field Everything is wrong or right as I surrender and yield

Something Simple
Speaking uncomplicated is the deliberation of the day It shows certainty and pushes misconception away A uncomplicated phrase like I care, Can recuperate a hurting heart And wipe away a somber tear Something minimal like hello or hi Can be the cause of a smile on a face And make the longest day fly by

Behind My Mask
I'll never let you know until you ask. I'll just sit here hiding behind my mask. I have one for every season, For every rhyme and reason. I'll put one on when you come around, So you'll think I'm happy, hiding a frown. I have one for work and one for play, And one that says just stay away. Although I love you, you'll never know. I'm hiding it behind a façade, One I made that will never show. Maybe I'll lock them up, Then throw away the key, Then I'll be the real me You've been trying to see But until I'm touched You wont see much Just a mask hiding What you're trying to see

To The One I Love
When I say I love you, then I surely love you And there's nothing I can say or do When I'm not there with you, then I'm thinking of you And waiting is all I can do So when our eyes meet, and each and every heartbeat Seemed to be intertwined with mine Then you'll know I love you, truly love you As you place your little hand in mine. Then we can sail off into the sunset And right from the offset I'll be yours and you'll be mine Then you'll know I love you, truly love you Then everything will be just fine

Feeling Like A Fish Out Of Water
Feeling like a fish out of water today Like a vending machine out of order Like a dollar shy of a few quarters Not myself but not someone else Swimming against the outgoing tide Staying in one place going for a ride Standing out in the open trying to hide About to jump out of the skin I'm in Just finishing and about to begin Feeling like crying with a big grin Like I'm eating take out in Thinking smart but talking dumb Having nothing but giving sum Like I'm in the red feeling blue Thinking false talking true Being a stand up guy on the side Being ridden while I ride Cant see the forest for the trees Its not easy being me
