Its been six years since my wife crossed over to her reward and almost five and a half since I retired. As we all know life goes on whether we want it to or not. For me life has been very good. I have a part time job that supplements my income. I do odd jobs that keep me involved and helping others and I have a relationship with a great woman to complete my social life. I can't control anything but what I feel on any given day. The economy is a great topic of discussion but I have little control other than how thrifty I can be. The weather - well living in Arizona the climate is very different from most of the country. The summers here are long and hot while the winters are very nice. Every so often we actually get down to freezing but only for a few hours then back to what many would call autumn. Spring is a two week visitor most of the time. One really nice thing is we almost always have sunny days. We actually have partly cloudy skies every so often as opposed to the partly sunny skies of the east coast I came from. Our sports teams are disappointing though I need to say the Cardinals are doing better this year. Maybe no cigar but they did better. Developing a replacement for Kurt Warner isn't going to be easy. Don't even ask about the Diamondbacks or the Suns. I think a high school team could show them up BUT there I always next year. Am I content? Oh yes! I'm happy and enjoying life with work, play, travel and relationships. Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing?

You find out just what is important and what is NOT. Nasty people are not. I enjoy Motor Racing especially open wheeled -- Indy Cars, Cart and Formula ! I support my Diamondback and Phoenix Suns. The Cardinals to a lesser degree. I just wish they could have a winning season once in a while. We gave them what they wanted ~ ~ the most technologically advanced stadium in the league and still -- oh well.

I often refer to my address as being two blocks north of Hell. How people lived here a 100 years ago is purely amazing. I'm fine until we get in that 105º to 115º range and in the sun. That is when it gets hot. Shaded isn't that bad, though.

Funny thing is that when I was in service I was stationed in Northern Michigan and one year Lake Superior froze all the way to Canada. We had over 30 days it never got above zero. Now that was cold. Now I live on the opposite end of that thermometer. Our temperatures closely reflect Iraq but they have soo much sand and dirt that blows. I sympathize with our troops on the heat. I just don't have to wear another forty pounds of protective clothing.[/size]
